Kazuo Ishiguro has attracted the attention of the world literary world for his outstanding novel achievements, and the 2017 Nobel Prize in Literature has established his position in the world literary world.Exploring the works of Kazuo Ishiguro,we can find that immigration status has a profound impact on his novel creation.Kazuo Ishiguro moved to the UK with his family when he was 6 years old.The immigration experience has made Kazuo Ishiguro cultural identity in a fuzzy and dynamic change, affecting his novel creation. This essay will analyse the influence of immigration status on Kazuo Ishiguro novel creation from three aspects: character shaping, theme writing and narrative strategy. The first chapter analyzes the character shaping of Kazuo Ishiguro creation in combination with Stuart Hall's postcolonial identity theory. There are several types of characters in dilemma in Kazuo Ishiguro novels. They are either identities in cultural dimensions,or those who are solitary and lonely in ethical dimensions,or isolated at the value stand. This kind of character shaping is precisely the direct reflection of the influence of writers' immigration status on creation. The second chapter analyzes the drift theme in Kazuo Ishiguro novels.Kazuo Ishiguro describes the drifting situation of the lost people in their homes, shows the dilemma of the weak value group in the cultural change, reveals the indifference of the humanity of modern human group under the crisis of survival, and explores the meaning and value of existence after the lost identity. The writing of this drifting theme is also a manifestation of Kazuo Ishiguro creation influenced by immigration status. The third chapter analyzes Kazuo Ishiguro novels with Wayne Booth's unreliable narrative theory.Kazuo Ishiguro novels use narrative strategies such as covert narrative, amnesia recollection and one-sided narrative, which makes the text present unreliable narrative features. These unreliable narrative strategies are the representation of Kazuo Ishiguro's thought about immigration status in his creation. The conclusion points out the viewpoint of thesis, the immigration status always affects Kazuo Ishiguro life experience, inner world and his novel creations. This kind of influence has both negative side and positive side. From a negative point of view, immigration status makes Kazuo Ishiguro fall into the predicament of identity anxiety.Although he always dilutes the influence of immigration status on his creation in interviews, the characters and themes in his works always show the characteristics of singularity consciously or unconsciously, which gives readers the impression that writers can not get rid of the influence of immigration status. From a positive point of view, immigration status causes KazuoIshiguro reflection on the issue of identity. He creates a series of images of drifters from the standpoint of cultural and emotional values, and reveals the drifting situation of human beings.Such novel creation is conducive to people all over the world to pay attention to and think about the current situation of human existence and the problem of cultural integration among nations in the era of globalization in which multi-culture are intermingled.
