As an important tool to disseminate popular culture,TV plays an important role in promoting the construction of spiritual civilization and strengthening the construction of mainstream ideology.Although era drama came into being relatively late,it takes the real historical events as the narrative background and the social environment after the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China as the narrative space to depict the conflicts between tradition and modernity, the conflicts between national unity, national independence and foreign aggression, the conflicts between democratic equality and authoritarianism, the conflicts between rules and disorderly customs, etc. This makes the era drama have many cultural and spiritual connotations that other types of TV plays can not accommodate when interpreting pluralistic values and ideologies. At the same time,a considerable number of times dramas have outstanding performances in terms of audience rating and word-of-mouth,which makes the audience scope of times dramas expanding and attracts more young audiences.Based on the ideological theory, this paper systematically studies and summarizes the Ideological Expression of the era drama from the aspects of theme selection, character portrayal, narrative structure and cultural connotation, and has a more comprehensive understanding of the era drama and its relationship with ideology. It is hoped that the creation of Chinese TV drama in the future can fully demonstrate the influence of ideology and discourse power.
