Since 1920 s,situational teaching method has been popularized and applied by British researchers,and now it has been widely used in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.At present,the vocabulary teaching methods of Chinese as a foreign language emerge one after another.Situational method is a vivid and flexible teaching method,which is mainly to construct and design the content of the teaching,describe the designed situation to make students immersed in it,and then imitate and practice the knowledge to be learned through the scenario.Situational method can cultivate students' perceptual ability;It can also cultivate students' communicative ability.This paper discusses the situational approach from the theoretical level,and expounds the application of situational approach to Chinese vocabulary teaching by analyzing its origin,principles,characteristics and theoretical basis.On the practical level,the author analyzes the situation of Chinese teaching in NONG KHAI ST.PAUL school in Thailand,and takes the students of the school as the object of investigation,which proves the feasibility of scenario method in the school.At the same time,by enumerating vocabulary teaching cases in the class,the author enables the teaching method to be successfully applied in the vocabulary classroom.The questionnaire about this subject is distributed to the learners at the primary,middle and advanced stages in ST.PAUL school,and the teaching effect of situational method in the Chinese vocabulary teaching in ST.PAUL school is obtained.According to the problems in the teaching of Chinese vocabulary in this school,some suggestions are put forward.In a word,this paper hopes to help the future practice of Chinese vocabulary teaching through the research on Chinese learners in ST.PAUL school.
