The Evolution Of "coloring In Accordance With The Category" In Contemporary Ink And Wash Creation And Application

Trough longitudinal researches on the history of traditional Chinese painting,the conclusion has been made as following: the viewpoint of “application of colors according to categories” has been altering with the changes of the “categories” at different historical stages.When interpreting the concept of “application of colors according to categories”,different perspectives,theoretical bases and subjective comprehension tend to render the wording more or less subjective,which may give rise to misunderstandings of the concept.The paper is consisted of three chapters.In chapter One,by tracking the historical background and the evolution of the concept,the changing points of “application of colors according to categories” in different historical periods have been analyzed in terms of themes and colors.Chapter Two has mainly discussed in recent years,how the painters have increased the scope for defining the “categories” in “application of colors according to categories” based on their assimilation of Western coloring ideas and their practical innovation.Taking my own painting processes into account,the comprehension of “application of colors according to categories” has been presented in Chapter Three;the exploration of this concept in my postgraduate study was of great significance in opening my mind while I was researching the forms and techniques of painting coloring,and meanwhile deepened my understanding of color application.In addition to revivifying its original meaning,this research on “application of colors according to categories” has also been expected to lift the curtain of researches on coloring theories of traditional Chinese painting through comparison with its changes in long time of development,and to help the painters find out its new meaning and application in their own painting practices under the new historical background.
