The Translation Strategy Of The Four-character Chinese In Consecutive Interpreting From The Perspective Of Language Structure Adaptation

Taking the keynote speech of the BRICS Summit from 2017 to 2018 as a case study,this thesis makes an analysis of four-character Chinese words from the perspective of linguistic structure adaptation.Through this practical case,the author summarizes three phenomena in the process of interpretation,namely,misinterpretation of the source language,loss of the source language and redundancy of translation in the process of consecutive interpretation by analyzing the author's own translation.Misinterpretation of the source language includes inevitable omissions that can be accepted and wrong omissions that can't be accepted.Loss of the source language includes effective misinterpretation which can be accepted and non-effective misinterpretation which can't be accepted.The main reasons for these problems are inappropriate allocation of energy in note-taking and memorizing,misunderstanding and errors in lexical collocations,and over-correspondence in interpretation.Finally,aiming at the problems of Chinese four-character translation in consecutive interpretation,the author puts forward corresponding translation strategies from two perspectives: lexical adaptation and sentence adaptation.
