"Huozhe" is a particular word in modern Chinese,and of great importance,which reflects the characteristics of Chinese grammar.Academic research of this word has started in the 70's last century,and a great number of related research achievements have been found,but most of them are concentrated on the comparison between the word "haishi","yaome" and "huozhe",most people agree that "'huozhe'is usually used in statement,'haishi'is mostly used in interrogative sentences".This opinion is undoubtedly correct.However,it lacks the consideration of using "huozhe" in the interrogative sentences,it has not unveiled the whole picture of the usage of "huozhe".There comparatively less researches have been done in describing the usage of"huozhe" in questions,which leads to a blank area of learners',learning database.By researching the language materials in CCL,BCC corpora and textbooks,more than 30,000 sentences have been analyzed,especially the very co-related 170 ones have been thoroughly studied in this article.Finally,the form,semantic,pragmatics of"huozhe" have been analyzed.From the data and research,we found "huozhe" can be used in many different types of questions,such as:Specifically refers to questions,right and wrong questions,positive and negative questions,choice questions,measure questions,rhetorical questions.There are mainly two semantic meaning of "huozhe" in the questions,one is listing out options,another is telling the listeners that all of the options are existing simultaneously.As for pragmatic functions of "huozhe",you will find the function of listing,predicting,prompting understanding,reminding,euphemistic expression and adding other questions.In the teaching experiment phrase,47 foreign students have participated in.The result shows that after a 15?20 minutes long study of the usage of "huozhe" in questions,the average accuracy has been improved from 57%to 81%.Based on the analysis of this experiment,three teaching advice for different stages of learning are given in this paper.For beginners,mastering the basic usage of "huozhe" and "haishi" is the most important thing.For intermediate learners,they can start to learn the two main semantics and six pragmatics of "huozhe".For advanced learners,besides conjunction"huozhe",the teaching of adverb "huozhe" could be started in this stage since learners have stated reading some Chinese literature.In this way,we can help improve the teaching situation that only teaching"huozhe" in the elementary period,giving more ideas of teaching "huozhe" in interrogative sentences for intermediate and advanced learners.By doing so,the study effect could be improved and learners is more likely grasp Chinese in a more specific end effective way.
