The Miao people in western Hunan celebrate the festival of ganqiu in the corresponding market field during the beginning of autumn every year.The festival of the Miao people in western Hunan that is one of the representative large scale compound festivals.It has the characteristics of agriculture,commemoration,commerce and entertainment,and is the cohesion of the Miao people’s life style,historical memory andnational culture.The core characteristics of the festival which are praying for a good harvest and commemorating cereal gods and ancestors,It contains the deep connotation of wishing a good harvest in advance,praying for blessings,worshiping the ancestors of gods,sticky food for good luck and singing love songs.In this article,by the festival of qiujie of Miao nationality in western Hunan as the research object,combine with text analysis and field investigation,this paper mainly discusses and explains the origin,legend,ups and downs,festival forms and activities,cultural connotation and historical changes of the Festival.The first chapter of this paper summarizes the research on the four aspects,which are domestic traditional festivals and national festivals,miao festivals,harvestfestivals and autumn festivals held by the miao nationality.In particular,it sorts out and analyzes the records,narration and research works of autumnfestivals and puts forward the corresponding problems.The second chapter,firstly,points out the origin legends and evolution of the autumn festival,trying to infer the formation time of the autumn festival from the Miao migration history,social communication environment and the autumn festival establishment through the existing data,and dividing it into two categories according to the inheritance of the autumn festival.The third chapter introduces the ecological and cultural environment of the field,truly records the autumn festival activities and processes in Chestnut Village,and compares the autumn festival in other places to show the current specific features of the autumn festival.The fourth chapter interprets the cultural connotation of qiaqiu festival.First,It analyzes the expression of harvest in agricultural life,in which the phenomenon of symbol concentration in qiaqiu festival is the result of cultural adjustment.Then it explores the festival prayers,worship of beliefs,sentimental ethics,rice glutinous food,and the traditional marriage customs of Miao people.Chapter five firstly analyzes the historical changes of qiaqiu festival and then discusses the inheritance of qiaqiu festival.And some practical Suggestions are put forward for the inheritance and protection of the autumn festival.As a representative harvest festival of ethnic minorities,the Autumn Festival presents and inherits the unique farming culture,badai culture,ethnic art and living customs of western Hunan,It is a valuable spiritual heritage and an important carrier of the Miao ethnic group in Western Hunan.Under the natural selection of the people and the change of production mode,the scale and content of the Autumn Festival is constantly increasing,and it gradually moves towards the intangible cultural heritage hall in the national cultural decision-making.The Autumn Festival is the starting point for exploring the common psychological quality of the Miao people in Western Hunan.It is not only conducive to enhancing the self-confidence and identity of local culture,promoting local unity,harmony and stability,but also can cause people’s reflection and responsibility consciousness under the drastic change of the times.
