From the cultivation of cultural awareness to the formation of cultural character,the ultimate goal is to enable students to master the language knowledge and effective intercultural communication,not only a language knowledge acquisition.The requirement of integration of cultural knowledge in teaching emphasizes the necessity of implementing English cross-culture teaching in high school.The implementation of cross-culture in high school is not only beneficial to the development of education for all-round development,but also improves the quality of English teaching in high schools.Meanwhile,it also benefits the common development of teachers and students as well as the new curriculum reform in high school.The local cross-culture teaching research,especially based on field research,can greatly promote the local English teaching.Based on the relationship among culture,cross-culture teaching,cross-culture teaching and language teaching,the research consults a large number of literature in this field,and explores the status quo and problems of cross-culture teaching and learning in high schools in Wanzhou District.This research takes the English teachers and students in six high schools as the research objects,and analyses the current situation of English culture teaching and learning in high schools in Wanzhou District with questionnaire method and text analysis method.Then it summaries the existing problems of English culture teaching and learning in high school in Wanzhou District.Most students recognize the importance of learning English culture and have interest in culture learning,but the learning result is not good.That's to say,they lack effective cross-culture learning strategies and the ability of initiative study.The English teachers' research result shows that the teachers recognize the importance of culture teaching,the limitation of their cultural quality,lack of good teaching methods,and the distribution of the culture content in English textbooks is not good.Meanwhile,from the view of the education management department,the superiors don't pay enough attention to the culture teaching,teachers' professional development training,and the evaluation mechanisms of teaching English culture.Combined with the survey results,this research puts forward effectiveculture teaching strategies for the high schools in Wanzhou District.Firstly,teachers need to enhance individual cultural teaching ability and create cultural atmosphere.Meanwhile,they would better use multiple culture teaching methods and make good use of the content in the textbooks.Secondly,the teaching management organizations need to establish a culture teaching training system,the plurality of English culture teaching incentive mechanisms,and multi-level of English culture optional courses.Thirdly,students should foster the motivation of cultural learning by themselves,and amend cultural learning strategies.
