This practice report is selected from the third and fourth parts of the higher education research report——College Learning for the New Global Century,which was published in 2007 by the Association of American Colleges and Universities.This thesis mainly introduces the seven principles and fifteen suggestions on practical teaching and essential learning outcomes in general education,which have the value of professional guidance and social promotion.The translator finds that the educational article discourses are concise and comprehensive,strong logical,and the structure of sentences are complex upon doing the translation practice.Corresponding translation strategies and methods are adopted for each difficult problem.The translator studies "discontinuous constituent","textual cohesion" and "parallel structures" and puts forward relevant translation strategies.For instance,the position of "separated parts" is flexibly changed in the translation of "discontinuous components" in simple sentences and compound sentences,and the methods of addition and omission are used to avoid translation cavity;In order to avoid redundancy,the translator use the strategy of referential relations appropriately in the translation of anaphora;In the translation of parallel structure,the conversion method and the skimming method are used to make the translation language concise and compact.The translator hopes to provide a new thinking for the translation of educational text by exploring the translation theory.
