Idioms are a specific type of vocabulary in the Chinese vocabulary system,which helps the expression of human languages become richer and more symbolic.However,in teaching Chinese to Vietnamese people,Vietnamese students are seemed to do not know how to use Chinese idioms properly;therefore,how to improve the quality of idiom teaching becomes a difficult question.This study focuses on the idiom teaching method for Vietnamese people.The thesis is divided into 4 chapters.Chapter 1 mainly rearranged the current situation of the recent studies and the research direction gained from these studies,presenting the reasons for choosing the topic,the way of thinking and the creative point of the whole study.Chapter 2 chose<Hanyu jiaocheng>as the study subject,first took the Chinese-Vietnamese character as a tool to conduct the classification of idioms contained in the textbooks,divided them into three categories including Transliteration idioms,Semi-transliteration idioms and Literal translation idioms.After that,a survey was taken and there was also an analysis of the data as well as the distribution and method of interpretation and practice of these idioms,simultaneously combined with interviewing the study subjects.Based on data gained from the survey and analysis,drew issues that Chinese idioms teaching in Vietnam are facing.Chapter 3,on the basis of taking "Chinese-Vietnamese characters" as a tool of idioms classification,conducted teaching experiments,then conducted multiple-choice surveys with Vietnamese students who have already finished<Hanyu jiaocheng>,thereby analyzing their understanding of the old idioms and newly learned idioms.Chapter 4,based on the three idioms categories proposed in this study,suggested some specific teaching models and methods for teaching Chinese idioms in Vietnam,which mainly focus on how to take advantage of "Chinese-Vietnamese characters" to conduct teaching and how to control the "frequency" of using them.
