In the international trend, the use of foreign language to communicate has become more and more important. Subsequently, foreign language using ability not only has become a necessary condition for the social life, but also be seen as a major means of national competitiveness. Now, foreign language learning in the world is gradually warming up, and the social pays close attention to foreign language and the study of foreign language.Language is a means of conveying the feelings and thoughts of human beings, according to the national and regional differences, the form of language is diverse. Among these languages, a field for foreign language learns who feel to learn is different but have to study is idioms. Not only for the idiom is a kind of speech which is used frequently in our daily life, but also, by the use of metaphor, to understand idioms that contain native culture, history, habits and customs and so on is very hard. Meanwhile, one simple idiom can express humans" thoughts and emotions without using a long sentence to express. In foreign language learning, in order to let learners master the us of senior vocabulary, the study of idioms can"t be neglected. So when we are learning a foreign language, it is a more effective method of foreign language learning through the country’s culture and the characteristics of thinking mode. But now we do not pay our enough attention on the education of idioms which includes culture, history, customs, ideas, and so on, The learners have a sense of resistance and often feel difficult to improvetheir foreign language skills on the most essential language learning in the promotion of foreign language skills. So the result is many foreign language learners don"t understand the importance of learning and applying idioms, and the language level is hard to improve a higher level.This paper aims to alleviate the difficulties of learners for their teaching and learning, and to put forward a variety of ways of idioms teaching and learning through the comparative study of the Chinese and Korean Idioms from multiple perspectives, at the same time, this paper deals with the idioms and the number of idioms that should be included in the compilation of foreign language materials.The recent foreign teaching field pays more attention to communicating way, and the idiom learning is necessary. In the first chapter, the author discusses the purpose, significance, scope and method of the research on the education of the idiom and the idiom is put forward. And also, the author sorts out the search achievements of Chinese and Korean idioms in comparative studies, teaching methods and compiling teaching methods since 1992, which is for communicating actively after the two countries established diplomatic relations. In the end, the author conduct s research on the comparing between the teaching of idioms and composing teaching materials among the two countries under the background of insufficient research, and also discusses the thesis"s value and innovation point.In the second chapter, the author analyses the definitions of the two countries" idioms. In China, it defines as a fixed phrase which produced among the people and be popular till now; while South Korea defines it as a kind of fixed expression which formed by two phrases with a new meaning. The producing reason of idioms can be divided into language class become idioms such as dialect, loan word, common saying and so on; historical reasons such as historical events, figures, classical literature, legends and so on; social culture factors which made idioms from producing to disappearing; psychological reasons that be difficult to express by words, in turn to use objects to metonymy. Finally, we classify and study the idiom in accordance with the basic necessities of life, psychological, emotional, numbers, colors and figures, the human body, language, behavior, nature, animals, legends and allusions, superstition, and so on, and analysis the social culture which it is reflected.In the third chapter, we do a comparative research on the characteristics of the grammar structure of idioms in the two countries according to the subject predicate structure, verb object structure, classification of partial structure. And we classify the idioms of China and South Korea from the exactly the same, partially identical, completely different of form and meaning. At last, in order to make use of figurative way to analyze Chinese and Korean idioms, the author defines what does study language mean, how to study language and how to make use of cognitive linguistics; and analyzes to use language to express thoughts and emotions which can make language itself more charming. Container metaphor of Chinese and Korean idioms such as "Humans are containers", metaphor idioms which express distance moving between place of departure and destination, some metaphors to point to directions such as up- down, inside-outside, front-back, connected metaphors according to the connection between social relationship and interpersonal relationship, event metonymy that based on physical experience, state metonymy that through humans’" physiology or action to express humans" mentation.The fourth chapter analyzes the problems in the teaching of Chinese and Korean idioms, such as listening, speaking, writing and so on, and also proposes many questions that teachers neglect idioms teaching, such as don"t" adjust the difficulties as junior, middle and senior, don"t teach by comprehensive and functional language teaching method, meanwhile, don"t make flexible use of Interest teaching method, teaching method which reflecting culture and Comparative teaching method. In the end, the author sums up the problems existing in Chinese and South Korean listening, conversation, and writing teaching materials. In addition, we sum up idioms and analyze the questions in teaching materials, so we can find the problems such as idioms teaching insufficient in primary stage, cultural elements insufficient, the problem of selection and array, the problem of idioms" explanation deviating from the original idea, the problem of the function of language be short of system constitution, to review the exercises of idioms are insufficient, and so on.The fifth chapter, the author introduces some second language teaching theories, such as grammar translation teaching method, direct teaching method, audio visual teaching method, group language teaching method, communicative teaching method, natural teaching method, systemic reaction teaching method, silent teaching method suggestive teaching method to solve problems existing in Chinese and South Korean idioms teaching. In addition, the author sums up ideal teaching methods of idiom listening, conversation and writing. Finally, the author introduces cognitive teaching method, culture teaching method, contrast teaching method and role play teaching method using TV play which used in idioms vocabulary teaching class.To let idioms become a part of foreign language teaching materials effectively, the author summarizes practical, original and interesting features of the second foreign language teaching materials, and puts developing order of teaching materials in order through the sequence before development, in development, trial period and complete phase. The author also researches the number of idioms from simple kinds to difficulties. And also, she studies selection criteria and selected range which suit Chinese and Korean idioms in junior middle school. In the end, the author makes a thorough inquiry in effective Compilation methods of using idioms in foreign language teaching materials, which includes subject development, unit constitution, activity development, exercise development, culture development and so on.The seventh chapter is aimed at summarizing the content of the thesis, putting forward the conclusion, proposing the deficiency of the research and the research area of idioms teaching in the future.At present, the researches on Chinese and Korean idioms mostly based on body or emotions, besides these, this thesis makes comparative studies on clothing, food and shelter, psychological, emotional, numbers, colors and figures, the human body, language, behavior, nature, animals, legends and allusions, superstition which are the innovation points of the thesis. To analyze the formative cause of idioms through linguistic, social, cultural, mental aspects, to divide Chinese and South Korean idioms into structure of modification, subject-predicate structure and verb object structure, based on illustration of the grammatical differences between Chinese and South Korean and cognitive linguistics theory, to analyze Chinese and South Korean idioms through analogy technique by using cognitive linguistics skills such as container metaphor, mobile metaphor, direction metaphor, joint metaphor, event metonymy and state metonymy, all of these are original in the thesis which to study in-depth multi-angle. Moreover, the author has taught languages for 7 years in China and 2 years in South Korea, who taught students Chinese and Korean actually in school. The thesis also mentions effective teaching methods and the compilation plan of teaching materials based on rich teaching experience, which is a exploring spot. The study of idioms is very exigent, but teachers often neglect it in actual teaching, while learners also pay more attention to grammar and words without studying idioms. After mastering the actual problem, the author makes research on how to mix idioms into listening, conversation and writing classes lively. To discuss teaching methods from contrast, culture, role play of TV serial and cognitive linguistics is also the difference from previous studies. Furthermore, the author has the experience to edit and publish Korean conversation and writing teaching materials in China. Based on this background, the other difference is that, the author discusses the problems of idioms in current teaching materials, then chooses idioms on the basis of junior, middle and senior teaching materials, and lists schemes to edit teaching materials to help students study idioms lively and powerful, which is also good at teachers.In order to promote communication between the two countries widely, the society should pay more attention to the study of foreign language. While the teachers teach foreign language, they should recognize the importance of idioms, and let students learns more about idioms to study deeply and thoroughly besides teach grammar and words only. Although some achievements of idioms comparative researches are got between China and South Korea, be lack of novel and multiple teaching methods and teaching materials, the key points of subsequent researches should be on all kinds of teaching methods and researches of the compilation of teaching materials.In research more for teaching idioms effectively. So only rely on reading superficially to understand idioms, such as "in secret" which reflects culture is difficult. Learners should study effectively rather than learning by rote. The author hopes this thesis could make a contribution to making idioms teaching originally and effectively.
