As a product of critical discourse construction,Avant-garde has an undeniable relationship with criticism in the process of concept generation.Since the appearance of Ma Yuan,the critics who had paid attention to this kind of young writers,criticized them and endowed them with the significance of history of literature are called Avant-garde Criticisms.They are mainly refer to the Lion-Camel Mountain Criticism including Wu Liang,Cheng Depei and Li Jie;the Post-Modernism Criticism of Zhang Yiwu,Chen Xiaoming and Wang Ning,also the critics after the 1990s,Wu Yiqin,Zhang Qinghua,etc.Among them,the critics of these two groups,Lion-Camel Mountain Criticism and Post-Modernism Criticism,they live in Shanghai and Beijing respectively,basically completed the formation process of the current Avant-garde concept.The differences between the critics of the two factions in terms of accomplishment of subject and critical demand caused them create various emphasis on Avant-garde,one with the impressionistic criticism of Form and the other with the Academic Criticism of Post-Modernism.Their stance of criticism has profoundly affected the appearance of the Avant-garde concept,and to a certain extent,it has also caused interference to the image display of Avant-garde of the character of narrowness and projection.It can be said that the criticism has formed the Avant-garde,or that the development of Avant-garde has relied on the power of criticism,but these young critics also need the Avant-garde to express themselves.These two factions of critics used the Avant-garde to express their awareness of reformation of form against instrumentalism and to realize the research needs of promoting and testing Post-Modernism.Therefore,through the analysis of the Avant-garde formation process of Avant-garde Criticisms,we applied the method of archaeology of knowledge which is in the form of returning to the scene of literature to realize the disenchantment of the Avant-garde.This article is divided into six chapters.The introduction first explains the confusion of the concept of Avant-garde and the trouble it caused.Then,through the distinction between pioneer criticism and new fashion criticism the concept of Avant-garde Criticism is completed.At the same time,a few number of related researches are sorted out.And the academic expectation of this article is positioned.The first chapter takes time as the axis to sort out the origin and evolution of the concept of Avant-garde under the influence of criticism.Since 1985,the Avant-garde has went through three periods,which are substitute reference(1985-1987),mixed reference(1988-1989)and general and specific reference(after the 1990s).From the first period,when the concept was not formed,Avant-garde was mentioned together with the concepts of Exploratory Novel and so on.It was called as substitute reference period.To the second period,Wu Liang and others put forward the slogan of Pioneer Literature,but mixed it into all New Novel.It was called asmixed reference period.Then,meaning of Avant-garde was expressed by Experimental Novel and Post New Fashion Novel,also the concept of Avant-gar And Novel and the New Fashion Trend were formed.It was called as mixed reference and general and specific reference period.The second chapter focuses on the criticism history of Lion-Camel Criticism and Post-Modernism Criticism to Avant-garde.Lion-Camel Criticism as a standard-bearer of the characteristics of reformation of fonn of Avant-garde,emphasizes on the method of how to write,but their definition of Avant-garde is far boarder than the current concept.The Post-Modernist critics have given Avant-garde a post-modernist meaning of the text of game mainly through the horizontal transplantation of post-modernism theory.And then,they have confirmed the status and function of Avant-garde,made the reference of Avant-garde gradually clear,and basically defined the scope of the writers of this genre.The third chapter is an evaluation of critical features to the Lion-Camel Criticism and Post-Modernism Criticism,and an exploration of its historical intentions,.from the confine of consciousness about reformation of form against instrumentalism reflected by Impression Criticism to Academic Criticism,to the change of using Avant-garde to achieve Theoretical Trial processed by the study of Post-Modernism.In this chapter,we can clearly observed that the critics were express the characteristics of themselves through the Avant-garde.The fourth chapter mainly analyzes and criticize the stereotype during the formation of Avant-garde.The use of fragments of history of literature in criticism standpoint has caused the problem of narrowness and projection of Avant-garde.Compared with the history of literature,it is a magnified analysis of the significance of the Lion-Camel Mountain Criticism for the form of Avant-garde.At the same time,it also draws on the evaluation of subverting the tradition and eliminating the meaning of Post-Modernist Criticism to Avant-garde and the derived point of view of disregard of the reader.These stereotypes,which are inconsistent with the reality of author,will restore to a more tridimensional form of Avant-garde under the research of writer and the study of pre-historical.The Conclusion give a review of the whole study and reinterpret the used of criticism to the reformation and restriction of Avant-garde.At the same time,it also talks about the relationship between critic and writer and the literary phenomenon of small circle.And at last,settles on the issue of labeling the Avant-garde and pure literature.
