Overseas Chinese education institutions are an important platform for overseas development of Chinese education and the spread of Chinese culture.A series of newspapers and periodicals published by these Chinese education institutions play an important role in increasing the local influence of Chinese education and accelerating the spread of Chinese language and culture.In recent years,Chinese newspapers and periodicals have attracted the attention of scholars at home and abload,but related research is still lacking,especially the comparative analysis of two or more Chinese education newspapers and periodicals is scarce.President Dong of Malaysia and the Chinese Education Center in the Philippines are the more influential Chinese education institutions in Southeast Asia.In this article,we take the "Chinese Education Bulletin" and "Chinese Education" monthly newspapers published by these two Chinese education institutions as research objects,compare the two types of newspapers from the aspects of structure and content,analyze their respective characteristics,and summarize the similarities and differences between the two.In combination with the background of the times,we propose suggestions for the further development of the two newspapers and periodicals,hoping to enrich the research content of Chinese newspapers and periodicals,increase scholars' attention to Chinese education newspapers,and deepen people's understanding of the development of Chinese education newspapers and journals in Southeast Asia.In terms of structure,the "Chinese Education Bulletin" and "Chinese Education"monthly newspapers both use A4 horizontal layout and arrange manuscripts with similar content and similar themes in the same page.There are some differences between the two in terms of the number and type of layouts,the header logo,the table of contents,and the font glyphs."Chinese Education Bulletin" has a large number of pages,usually 5-7,with more diverse themes.In addition to the titles of Chinese and English newspapers and periodicals,the Chinese and English names and emblems of President Dong are inserted in the header.Simplified Chinese characters and Song dynasties are usually used in newspapers and periodicals,and traditional characters and artistic fonts are rarely used.The post-2014 newsletter has processed the page in full color and added a table of contents.The "Chinese Education" monthly report has a small number of pages,usually four,with topics focused on teaching and communication.For the period 2009-2018,there are Chinese and Filipino registrations on the left side of the masthead,and a quote column on the right side.Simplified and traditional characters are common in the body part,and artistic characters are mostly used in titles.In terms of content,because of the common goals of the China Daily and the Chinese Education Monthly,the main reporting genres and reporting focuses are similar.Newsletters and essays are widely used as reporting genres,and both focus on reporting related to education.content.There are some differences between the two in terms of reporting angle,form and language style.The content of "Chinese Education Bulletin" is mostly from the perspective of General Manager Dong,In the report,the text content is combined with pictures and tables to make the report more specific and the language style is more calm and rigorous.The content of "Chinese Education"monthly report mostly starts from the event itself,and is mainly reported through a large number of text descriptions.The language style is more cordial and simple.By analyzing the characteristics and rules of the two Chinese education newspapers in terms of structure and content,the author puts forward the following suggestions for the development of these two Chinese education newspapers and periodicals:Enrich the report form and theme categories;attach importance to language and cultural communication;strengthen the concept of innovation And establish a cooperation mechanism to promote the "Three Treasures" linkage.
