With the emergence of new things,languages are showing its innovation.In this process,there appears one kind of word category with fixed word structure and meaning,semantic virtualization and highly analogical productivity,which is different from the root of words,the typical affix,notional morpheme,but also the phrase.It is active in the network media and social platforms,and is also important and necessary in the fields of international Chinese education and computer language.This is the subject of this thesis:modern Chinese quasi-affixes.The topic combines Chinese quasi-affix with Chinese immersive teaching environment in American schools to analyze the situation of teaching Chinese quasi-affix in Chinese immersion schools by taking Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion School(PVCICS)as a research case.There are three hidden questions to link those two aspects:Is it necessary and possible to teach Chinese quasi-affixes in a Chinese immersive environment in American schools?If so,what level of students should be taught and which methods are best to teach?Since there has been little research done on the the subject of teaching quasi-affix in Chinese immersion schools,it can not only inspire a new research di rection in the study of modern Chinese quasi-affix,but also guide the first-line teaching and promote the development of international Chinese education.That is the significance of this research.The following is a brief summary of each chapter:The first chapter tells the origin of this paper,along with the significance and methods too.As said before,it puts the quasi-affix research into a well-developed and popular teaching model,which is a creative and practical idea.The research methods include file collection,classroom observation,teacher-student interviews,questionnaires and error analysis.The second chapter includes current researches of modern Chinese quasi-affixes,including research results,definition,standards and ranges of Chinese quasi-affixes.It provides the theory basis of the whole research,and helps readers to understand the following chosen research materials.The third chapter reviews the research of the Chinese-language immersion schools and projects in the United States,introduces the PVCICS's Chinese language program by analyzing the Chinese language project in details from aspects of target population,teachers' group,curriculum arrangement,teaching methods,teaching resources and teaching evaluation.In addition,it comes up with problems of this project from three aspects of teacher,student and test evaluation.There are also challenges of its continued development are brought up.At last,it simply concludes demands of vocabulary learning in Chinese immersion schools.The fifth chapter is a study of teaching Chinese quasi-affixes in PVCICS.The writer analyzes a Chinese classroom tracking observation of first grade,sixth grade and ninth grade which separately represents the primary school,middle school and high school.Through questionnaires and verbal interviews,it turns out to be necessary to teach quasi-affixes in Chinese immersion schools,and it is better to teach middle and high levels of students scientifically.In order to give a hint of teaching quasi-affix,there are three teaching methods introduced through analyzing students'learning errors,which are morpheme extension teaching method,analogy teaching method and task-based teaching method.Finally,the error analysis helps us to avoid learning errors and promote teaching.
