Chinese has been become popular globally.More and more foreigners study Chinese as a way of knowing China.Chinese learners have different needs depending on the stage of Chinese learning.For intermediate and high level of Chinese learners,the purpose of studying Chinese is not only to gain the skill of Listening,speaking,reading and writing but also to access the border knowledge of Chinese culture and Chinese philosophy.In addition,for foreigner learners who work involved with Chinese speaking in the field of business trade,translation,tourism,Chinese is not just simply a tool of communication.This group of people are interested in Chinese culture and the underlying meaning of Chinese language.Therefore,studying Chinese traditional culture will help intermediate and high level Chinese leaners to both economic and culture aspects.This thesis is a research on Chinese culture which starts with the design of foreign Chinese teaching.Since Chinese culture is developed over thousands years,a plenty of topics can be chosen for this thesis,as such the topic for which to start with is crucial.Considering all into accounts,this thesis will start with “The Great Wall” which is wellknown domestically and internationally.We will enhance students the understanding of Chinese traditional culture by means of story telling,poetry sharing and role play.This thesis consists of six parts: the part one,Feasibility analysis of this thesis through discussing about the current stage,background,purpose and etc;The second part,To Introduce the ideology of the teaching design.The third part,To review the history and impact of The Great Wall on foreign Chinese teaching.The fourth part,To illustrate the target students,the objective of teaching,the content of teaching which would help design become more applicable.The fifth part,The detail ofteaching design and procedures.The sixth part,The conclusion of this practice training.We hope this thesis could provide some new ideas and meaningful exploration for the design of Chinese culture teaching.
