The relationship between language and culture is inseparable.Learning a language is not only to about the language itself,but also about the culture and way of thinking behind it.In teaching Chinese as a foreign language(TCFL),the cultural teaching always plays an important role.And Animal-relevant words as a kind of relatively special vocabulary in Chinese,contains abundant cultural information,in addition,there are a large number of animal cultural words in Chinese and French,which brings a lot of problems to the teaching work of TCSL teachers and often leads to misunderstandings among students in cross-cultural communication.Therefore,it is necessary to study the teaching situation of animal cultural words in the French-speaking area.This thesis selects two French-speaking countries,Senegal and French,conducted interviews with 7 TCSL teachers,43 Senegalese learners and 4 French learners in the University of Dakar,Senegal and in China.After comparing the current textbooks of TCFL,five sets of textbooks are selected as the basis of this thesis : Chinese textbooks,Developing Chinese,Boya Chinese,New Practical Chinese Reader,and Road to Success.The introduction introduced the research background and significance of this thesis.The author took “animal words” as the key word to search the article for nearly 30 years in CNKI,so as to explore the research status of animal words,and then made a brief introduction to the relevant research work of this thesis,including the research objects,research methods and theoretical basis of this thesis.Chapter ?,the Animal-relevant words in five sets of textbooks were investigated,and the number of them was calculated.The Chinese Animal-relevant words are very rich in cultural connotation,and many of them come from history.Therefore,the author divided them into these three categories: homophonic,allegorical warning and idiomatic allusions.Chapter ?,based on the Animal-relevant words in five sets of textbooks,the author selects the Animal-relevant words that appear more frequently for comparative analysis of Chinese and French.The cultural connotation of animal cultural words in Chinese and French is further compared and analyzed according to the standards of the same and partial cultural connotation,the completely different cultural connotation,and the vacancy of cultural connotation.Chapter ?,interviews and questionnaires were conducted among 7 TCSL teachers and 47 Chinese learners in French-speaking areas.Based on the survey results,the author found out the biased errors and the reasons of these errors that Chinese learners in the French-speaking areas tend to make in the process of learning Animal-relevant words.Chapter ?,in view of the existing problems of teachers and students,this thesis put forward corresponding teaching suggestions from the three aspects of teachers,students and textbooks,hoping to help the teaching of Animal-relevant words.The author hopes that by investigating the teaching of Animal-relevant words in the French-speaking areas represented by Senegal to help those Chinese learners better understand the Animal relevant-words,so that they can learn Chinese better and improve the Chinese level and learning ability.
