Marx's discussion on the question of modern China is an important part of Marx's eastern social theory and world history theory. The rise of China's development and its research also requires the loud voice of Marx's discourse.China is a country that has been concerned by Marx for a long time in the theoretical research and revolutionary practice. In the 1840s,when Marx founded the historical materialism and the scientific socialism,he attached great importance to the development trend and the latest changes in modern China. In the 1850s,changes in the international structure,China's drastic changesfrom boom to bust, the brutal invasion of imperialism, and the deep misery of the Chinese people caused the attention of Marx and provided materials for him on modern China. While studying the operating characteristics of the capitalist mode of production and exploring the law of capitalist development,Marx also paid close attention to modern China and made detailed discussion in terms of politics, economy, and diplomacy.According to the combination of history and logic, this paper discusses the historical background of Marxism on modern China from the perspective of imperialist invasion, the outbreak of the Chinese revolution, and the misleading of the Western pres; From the influence of Western thinkers on Marx and the theoretical support of Marx himself, this paper discusses the theoretical background in which Marx studied modern China.Based on historical and theoretical background, this paperelaborates Marx's discussion about the dual effects of the invasion of Western powers on modern China, the reasons for the gradual decline of China, such as the backward economic structure, the autocratic political system, and the foreign policy of blocking the country, and the praise to modern Chinese justicestruggles for resistance.Based on historical and value perspectives, this paper summarizes Marx'sposition on modern China from the standpoint of the people's subject and world history.Based on a combined perspective of theory and practice, this paper studies the theoretical significance of Marx's discussion of modern China on Marx's theory itself and Marxism's sinicization, and discusses its practical significance on China's current ideology, economic structure and East-West interaction.Marx's discussion on modern China is far away from us,but studying Marx's argument at that time still has very important significance. When commemorating the 200th anniversary of Marx's birthday,President Xi Jinping pointed out that during theSecond Opium War,Marx wrote more than a dozen newsletters about China, exposing the truth of Western aggression against Chinatothe worldand upholding justice for Chinese people.Marx highly affirmed the contribution of Chinese civilization to the progress of human civilization, scientifically foresaw the emergence of Chinese socialism, and even adopted a brilliant name for the new China in their hearts-the Republic of China.Marx stood in the position of a oppressed nation and put China under the general background of modern international relations to study.Based on the theory of world history,he took a far-sighted look and a pragmatic approach to give a more comprehensive exposition of modern China.Marx's discussion on the issues of modern China plays a certain guiding role in the construction of contemporary socialism with Chinese characteristics. It is conducive for us to solve the problems of narrow-mindedness that exist today,to accelerate the transformation of our economic structure for actively adapting to the new normal economy, and to promote common development and mutual learning in the civilization of the East and the West.
