Electronic commerce is a kind of business activity which is different from the traditional transaction mode.It is a new business model with Internet technology and computer terminal as the carrier and it is the product of the development of the Interne t era.Ecommerce was first appeared in the United States,where computer technology and Internet technology are the most developed.China formally introduced the conce pt of electronic commerce in 1993;the first online transaction began in 1996 and it entered a period of rapid development in 2000.At present the development of electron ic commerce in China is taking place by leaps and bounds.In order to facilitate consu mer shopping,there are also many violations of the legitimate rights and interests of consumers.China's ecommerce legislation is still in its infancy,and it is very difficult to regulate the ecommerce market quickly.The lack of legislation seriously hinders the regulation of ecommerce market and the protection of consumers' rights and intere sts.Therefore,this paper describes the concept and characteristics of electronic comm erce in detail,the present situation and prospects of electronic commerce in China,various types of infringement of consumer rights and interests in electronic commerce,the development of the ecommerce market in the United States and Japan,and the w ay to protect the rights and interests of consumers and so on.Then it draws lessons fro m the United States and Japan on the protection of consumer rights and interests in ecommerce and puts forward feasible recommendations to solve the problem of ecom merce market in China to protect consumer rights and interests.
