Germany and Russia are two extremely important countries in Europe.The relationship between Germany and Russia is also an important international relationship on the European continent and even in the world.After the end of the Cold War,Russia began to pursue a pro-Western policy and looked forward to receiving financial assistance and support.Among them,Germany's aid to Russia has performed more prominently.The relations between Germany and Russia after the Cold War developed rapidly,the overall development trend performed well,and they experienced two honeymoon periods.Subsequently,with the request for the expansion of NATO toward the east,Russia began to become tough on its attitude towards the West.Faced with the threat of terrorism,Russia and the Western countries jointly condemned terrorism.The relationship between Germany and Russia has eased.Prime Minister Schroeder actively developed friendly relations with Russia,the relations between the two countries have entered a state of closeness.In the conflict between Russia and Georgia in 2008,Merkel attacked Russia and the relationship between the two countries went down again.Until the Ukrainian crisis occurred,Germany also imposed sanctions on Russia.Looking at the development of the relations between Germany and Russia after the Cold War,it showed the characteristics of pre-political,hot-to-political,and hot-tempered.In general,the relations between Germany and Russia are stable,but there are also closely related periods of honeymoon and low relations.This article examines the domestic and international situations faced by Germany and Russia after the Cold War and explores the changes in Germany's foreign policy during the period when different leaders took power and the impact of these changes on the political and economic relations between the two countries.Through sorting out the development and changes in the relations between the two countries and analyzing various factors affecting the relations between Germany and Russia,Germany and Russia need to upgrade their international status after the Cold War,expand the demand for space for economic and trade cooperation,and deepen the energy cooperation between the two countries,demand and protection of the interests of European security interests,these positive factors have promoted the honeymoon period after the Cold War.In addition,in the course of the development of the entire relationship,due to differences in their respective development histories and concepts,the influence of external factors such as US involvement,NATO's eastward expansion,and the Ukrainian crisis,they also restricted the development of relations between Russia and Russia.Based on the above analysis,This article analyzes the characteristics of the evolution of the development of the relations between the two countries and explores the effects of the development of the relations between Germany and Russia after the Cold War on the German and Russian sides,on the situation in Europe and on the entire world.
