Investigation And Research On The Issues Of Providing For The Aged In Families With Only Children Working Outside In Zhuanghe City

Since the implementation of the ‘one-child policy' in the late 1970 s,most of the families have only one child.With the development of modern society,the life expectancy of Chinese population increases year by year and there appears to be more and more elderly people.The reality is that one-child family supports four old people has become a social problem that can not be ignored.The only-child generation is over the age of 40 who have the responsibility of supporting their elderly parents,raising and educating their children and at the same time they are busy on their way to make a living.The burden and responsibility of multiple economies lay on their shoulders making them be tired of livelihood and lack of time to look after themselves.In some economically underdeveloped areas,many young or middle-aged people left their homes to seek a living by leaving the old people alone in their hometowns,exposing the problem of ‘empty nests' in society.These old people's children are not around them which leads to lacking of emotional care all year round,especially when the elderly is sick needing to be taken care of,there is no close care by relatives.With the deepening of the aging society in the future,this problem will be of great concern.According to the only-child family pension problem existing in our country,how to support and care for the elderly in the only-child family,especially the old-age problem in the only-child family whose child work outside the city is a major issue that we need to address at present.Starting with the pension problem of old people from the only-child family whose children work outside the city,this paper investigates and studies the parents and children in the only-child families in Zhuanghe City.By using the methods of questionnaire and analysis,the author makes a comprehensive analysis and research on the natural situation of the only-child families in Zhuanghe City and the needs of the elderly in the only-child families for the pension requirements and so on.According to the reasons behind the problem,from the macro-level of society and government to the micro-level of the only-child family.According to the main crux of the problem,the author came up with the effective solution towards the only-child family pension problem respectively.Such as improving the existing social security system for the elderly,improving the service quality by service personnel and advocating the elderly to reverse the traditional concept of getting old,advocating the only child who work beyond hometown to go home visiting the elderly frequently caring for their parents,and so on.
