In 2015,The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was unanimously adopted by world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly. The agenda set the goals for the United Nations in the next 15 years to promote global sustainable development, among which the primary goal is to further eliminate poverty in all its forms. In this regard, the paper raises questions: When did the United Nations begin to focus on Poverty Reduction? What role has it played in addressing global poverty? And what are the current difficulties or challenges in this area? The paper collected and classified the United Nations Global Poverty Governance process as well as Poverty Reduction Strategy from 1945.The process of Global Poverty Governance of the United Nations was divided into three stages: Three-Decades Development strategy(1960-1990);After the Cold War and MDGs(1990-2015);SDGs(2015-Now).Secondly,in the process of studying Global Poverty Governance, findings of some distinctive characteristics of the United Nations' Poverty Reduction were as follows: Planned and inherited of policy-making;self-driven and regulated of governance;aimed of funding and multi-standard of monitoring.Furthermore, based on the analysis of the role of the United Nations in Global Poverty Governance, this paper claims the following three points: firstly, the role of advocator, spreader and connector;Secondly, the strategy and mechanism establisher of Global Poverty Reduction;thirdly, the role of policy-implement,innovator,and supervisor. Finally, after the organization, summarization and analysis of process of the United Nations Global Poverty Governance, the current problems and challenges encountered by the United Nations in the field of Global Poverty Governance are discussed in the last chapter.
