Analysis Of Sweden's Participation In The EU's Common Foreign And Security Policy Practice

Through the implementation of Neutrality policy,Sweden was successfully avoided war disputes,successfully maintained its sovereignty and independence.During the cold war,by virtue of its neutrality,Sweden played the role as a "bridge" between the two camps,securing Sweden an important “communicative” position in the international community.Geopolitical environment in Europe has changed dramatically since the end of the Cold War.In 1995,Sweden had maneuvered to join EU by adjusting its domestic and foreign policies.Then followed by participating Common Foreign and Security Policy(CFSP),its security orientation has changed quite drastically in recent years,which is mainly reflected in Sweden's contribution of the mechanism inside the EU,and its active participation in the main actions under the framework of CFSP.Consequently,this interaction has exerted influence to both sides.Sweden tends to stand with the Europe by being Europeanized.And due to Sweden's effort,the Europe has further promoted its civilian tasks under the framework of CFSP.Through its pragmatic "neutral" policy,Sweden finally successfully participated CFSP,realized its political ideals and aspirations,and enhanced its influence in the international community.But the core interest of Sweden is that the “long-standing tradition of neutrality” does not allow Sweden to be involved in any kind of military alliance,so in the future Sweden will take a cautious wait-and-see attitude towards the future integration of the EU in the security field.
