The Group Work Involved In The Research On The Urban Life Plight Of Female Lao Piao Nationality

With the rapid of ageing population and the development of urbanization,more and more elderly people follow their children to the city,which are described as "older female floating people".Elderly women who take care children account for a large proportion of this group.Due to the individuality,family,social and policy factors,the elderly female migrants are facing various life difficulties in the inflow city.It is mainly shown in the following several aspects:Loneliness,spiritual emptiness,disharmony of family relations,lack of social contact,lack of rights and interests guarantee.To alleviate their urban life troubles and improve the quality of their later life,which is significant to promote the harmony and stability of our family and society.As an economic center of Shandong province and important coastal city of China,Qingdao is the main input place of floating population.This paper takes the elder female drifters which live in X community,Qingdao west coast new district as the study subject.It is studied the role and effect of group work in relieving their urban life difficulties.Firstly,By using documents,questionnaires and interviews to investigate and analyze the manifestations and reasons of their urban life dilemma.Secondly,guided by social support theory,empowerment theory and activity theory,this study adopt group work method to intervene.After eight group activities,the eight team members are evaluated.The result shows that the group work has remarkable achievements in ameliorating the loneliness,spiritual emptiness and social interpersonal difficulties of the older female floating people.However,it also has some short comings.For example,difficult to establish professional relationship,Group sharing faces with resistance,lack of individualized attention,Limited number of beneficiaries and Lack of involvement in family and external environment etc.After reflection,the social worker put forward five suggestions for improvement:innovate and effective use of group work skills,coordinate multiple group work forms,matching group work with other social work methods,linking various resources,and matching of interventions in various fields,These proposals are expected to promote the research in this area,and then better serve the female old drifters.
