Discussion On The Regionalization Of East Asian Security Cooperation

Regional security cooperation has gradually emerged in the Asia-Pacific region since the 1990 s.It is normal for countries inside and outside the region to participate in the governance of regional security.The contemporary fully open security cooperation mechanisms have already appeared bottlenecks while strengthening national and international security ties among the countries above.When dealing with security issues with regional characteristics,the role of cross-regional security cooperation mechanisms has been limited and even becomes an obstacle for countries inside the region to work together for security governance.Based on a qualitative approach represented by the case analysis,we conclude that cross-regional multilateral security cooperation is confronted with the dilemma in supply and demand through analyzing the characteristics of the existing security cooperation mechanisms in the Asia-Pacific region and summarizing the security concerns of the countries in Asia.Through the theoretical characteristics of open regionalism,this thesis analyzes the path and effect of regional governance of traditional security issues and non-traditional security issues in East Asia,and prospects for the construction of East Asian security cooperation mechanisms in the future.The regional governance of security issues in East Asia is rooted in the regional characteristics of security issues.The dilemma in the supply and demand faced by existing cross-regional security cooperation mechanisms in the region proves that it is necessary and rational to pursue regional governance of security issues.In the future,East Asian security cooperation will present a "calabash" structure.Security cooperation in Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia will play the roles of engines for the construction of the East Asian Security Community,while China and Japan,as regional powers,will play the role of connection and stability.
