With the spread of the Chinese learning,more and more foreigners started to learn Chinese,the ages of the learners have changed too.A lot of American family choose to learn Mandarin when their children were kids.Therefore,the Chinese teaching on American children is becoming a big issue for the Chinese teachers in America,because of this,the Chinese teaching on the American children is particularly worthy of our attention and research.With the help of convenient working condition in Confucius institute of Kennesaw State University,I carried out a survey and information's collection of the Chinese teachers and students.Using methods of literature,questionnaire,observation,analyzing the current situation of oral teaching of Confucius Institutes,And then it starts from four aspects of students,teachers,teaching methods and teaching materials,summarizing the characteristics of Chinese teaching in America,proposing the problems existing in the oral teaching as well as exploring possible measures for improvement.The whole paper is divided into five parts.The first part is an introduction,mainly introduced the reason to select the topic,the research significance of this paper,the object of the research,as well as the related research results in recent years,and the aims and methods of this article.The second part is the first chapter,analyzed the condition of the mandarin learners,and introduced the mission and characteristics of the oral teaching,the background and the situation of the oral Chinese class.The third part is the second chapter.First of all,we do the diagnoses for the oral mandarin teaching of the American children.Then,we record some typical class conditions.We found the problem that the students they don't have strong motivation for learning Chinese,the textbooks of the oral Chinese are not very attractive to the students,and the insufficiency of the after class practice.The forth part is the third chapter,we aimed at the problems existing in the class teaching,we mainly inspected two aspects,the choose of the teaching materials,the use of the teaching method,the selection of teaching content should be in accordance with the two principles of interest and practicality.In the application of teaching methods,the appropriate teaching method should be chosen according to the actual situation and the needs of students,and we made a teaching design.The fifth part is the conclusion of the paper,it mainly made an overall conclusion of the article and pointed out the room for the further improvement.
