Classical poetry appreciation is an important part in Chinese teaching in high school and in inheriting traditional Chinese culture,even in building up students' world view and sense of view.The concept of “knowing the world” put forward by Mencius meant “friend” at the beginning,however,it is used as a way to appreciating classical poetry by literary critics after Mencius.Chinese teachers in high schools always highly admire this method in classical poetry appreciation.However,there are some immature points in the application of “knowing the world” in classical poetry appreciation.Therefore,it should be improved in order to making big process in classical poetry appreciation teaching,helping students with understanding “knowing the world”,guiding themselves and building up positive world views and sense of view.At present,there are two extremes in the application of classical poetry appreciation: some experts hold a negative opinion that they think it will limit readers' minds and make the classical poetry appreciation become utility;the other people think highly of it because they believe that all the art works are the reflections of poets.Therefore,they think that “knowing the world” helps students with understanding contents,author's attitudes more accurately through understanding the authors' lives,social environment,life experiences.Both of two opinions are debatable.These study is conducted with the aims to understanding the situations of the application in “knowing the world” in Chinese classical poetry appreciation in high schools,solving the problems of misuse of it in teaching of classical poetry appreciation,finding suitable strategies while using textbooks,exploring the value of it in classical poetry or other types of literary works appreciation and writing,making ultimately use of “knowing the world” in classical poetry appreciation and finding the new meanings of acquainting oneself with people of the past.Therefore,this paper consists of the following parts:Chapter one: Introduction.This part introduces the reasons of conducting this research,research status in China,literature reviews and the aims and impacts of this research.Chapter two: The relevant theories,functions and limitations of "knowing the world".(1)Concepts of "knowing the world","classical poetry" and "teaching of classical poetry";(2)The roles of "knowing the world" in the appreciation of classical poetry;(3)The limitations of "knowing of the world".Chapter three: Researches on the current situations of application of "knowing the world" in the teaching of Chinese classical poetry in high schools.(1)Research data and expert interviews;(2)Misuse of "knowing the world" in the classical poetry teaching in high schools.Chapter four: The application strategies of "knowing the world" classical poetry of Guangdong education edition.(1)The appropriate strategy of using “knowing the world” in Chinese classical poetry in high schools.(2)The application strategy of "knowing the world" in compulsory classical poetry teaching.(3)The application strategy of "knowing the world" in elective classical poetry teaching.(4)The application strategy of "knowing the world" in test.Chapter five: The value of "knowing the world".(1)The roles of "knowing the world" in classical poetry appreciation from class to extracurricular;(2)The roles of "knowing the world" in other types of literary works appreciation;(3)To provide materials for writing and to guide students how to write;(4)The influences of “knowing the world” on the comprehensive development of students.
