The new curriculum reform advocates the reform of Chinese reading instruction vigorously.The reading quantity and ability of students should be improved.Although the value of reading has been recognized,there are many problems such as bare and fragmentary reading.The reading literacy of students needs to be improved.Faced with these practical problems,the study of thematic reading instruction came into being,and it has been favored for great teaching effect.However,some teachers often spend a lot of efforts on the teaching effect rather than instructional design.Therefore,the study will explore the improved steps of the thematic reading instructional design based on the new version textbook of the second grade.First of all,this paper expounds the concept and theoretical basis of the thematic reading instructional design based on the literatures.Secondly,the practical problems will be analized by interviewing on the teachers who implement the thematic reading of primary school language.There are some problems of the instructional design on theme determination,target design,material selection and so on.The reasons for this are that obscure theroy of thematic teaching,instrumental value,deficiency of teachers' ability.Thirdly,the researcher modifies new thoughts and six steps of the instructional design aiming at these problems and characteristics of the thematic reading teaching in the primary school.There are six procedures:analying the textbook and students through the background;selecting the theme by all kinds of text materials;determining the teaching objectives bidirectionally;integrating the reading contents based on the unit theme;designing the teaching processes combining the teaching targets;designing the evaluation methods comprehensively.Fourthly,the first unit for detailed instructional design and the extra units for general design of thematic reading for the second Chinese subject in primary school will be provided and analized for teachers' teaching practice.
