The study of Intercultural communication was first developed in the United States.At first,the main focus was on the study of communication culture and with the aim of studying the relationship between language and culture,improving the quality of language teaching and effectively carrying out Intercultural communication.Nowadays,with the economic globalization,the rapid impact of transportation,communication and information globalization,all of which make the relationship between countries closer,and the world has become a truly global village.Due to the increase of the relationship between countries,frequent trade and economic exchanges,the development of education must be certainly promoted,so the phenomenon of education internationalization is becoming more and more obvious.Institutions of higher learning are at the top of the pyramid of contemporary education and the internationalization of higher education has attracted extensive attention in academic circles at home and abroad.Now,institution of higher learning around the world have made it one of their objectives to cultivate talents with international vision.In addition,in year 2013,Chinese president Xi Jinping proposed the "the Belt and Road",which means that economic,cultural and educational cooperation between the countries along with and China will be more improved.Because of this,higher education has put forward a higher demand in our country.It is urgent for the society to cultivate a group of cross-cultural talents with international vision.With the propose of" the Belt and Road" put forward,the minority areas in the central and western China has become the intersection.The minority students as the important new force and motive force support for thedevelopment of minority regions,under the propose of" the Belt and Road ",cultivating ethnic minority talents with the ability of intercultural communication is the source of driving force for the long-term development of ethnic areas.Against the background of the propose of " the Belt and Road ",and in combination with the strong multicultural atmosphere of its own campus,the country in the new period needs talents with the ability of international vision and intercultural communication.Ethnic universities and colleges should use their own advantages to invest in the wave of cultivating intercultural communication talents.This essay chose the minority students and some teachers of Yunnan Minzu University as the main research objects.Through earlier research and data processing,in the later writing of the paper,I mainly draw lessons from Michael Byram ’ s theory model of Intercultural communication,design a questionnaire and interview survey for minority students in ethnic universities and colleges of our country in combination with the propose of " the Belt and Road".I aim to know the current situation and problems of intercultural communication among minority students in minority universities and colleges.Under the propose of" the Belt and Road" to seek for the path to improve the students ’ intercultural communication ability.
