Teacher authority refers to the education power granted by the state or society and the influence formed by the personality and professional quality of teachers in the teacher-student relationship.In maintaining school order and discipline,teacher authority plays the role of management,control and coordination,including mandatory factors;In the daily communication between teachers and students,teacher authority is an influential force generated by teachers that can make students obey,recognize and believe consciously and change their cognition and behavior.Traditional education emphasizes "teacher-centered",which once alienated the authority of teachers and caused some teachers to abuse their authority.The teacher-student relationship is characterized by strong authority and obedience.But the teacher authority is not invariable,but produces the different change along with the time vicissitude.Teacher authority is the means by which teachers and students jointly achieve their goals,rather than the tools that teachers use to override students to achieve their own goals.In modern society,teachers and students emphasize democracy and equality in the dialogue,and the traditional institutional authority gradually declines.However,teachers' inspiring authority generated by their own charm,profound knowledge,exquisite teaching art and excellent personal character has occupied an increasingly important position.Therefore,this study aims to investigate the changes in the manifestation of teacher authority in the relationship between teachers and students in primary schools.Taking teachers and students in a primary school in district H of Shanghai as the research object,some students in grade 3 of this school were investigated and studied by using the methods of interview and observation.This study will mainly study the following aspects: 1.The origin and types of the authority of primary school teachers nowadays;2.Changes and manifestations of teacher authority in psychological contact and behavioral interaction between teachers and students in primary schools;3.The positive and negative effects of teacher authority on the teacher-student relationship in primary schools;4.What authoritative strategies primary school teachers will adopt to promote and improve the teacher-student relationship.Research findings: 1.At present,the source of teacher authority not only includes external factors such as cultural tradition,social system and law,and the authority granted to teachers by students' parents,but also includes internal factors such as teacher's personal charm,teacher's knowledge and teacher's personal merit;At present,the types of teacher authority are divided according to the source of authority,including traditional authority,institutional authority,"parental agent authority",inspiring authority,knowledge authority and teaching authority.2.In the process of the psychological connection between primary school teachers and students,the traditional institutional authority has changed,and primary school teachers and students are more inclined to inspire the authority to promote the emotional development of teachers and students;The authoritarianism education mode with "teacher-centered" is changing to the constructivism mode with "student-centered".However,the traditional value system that "teachers are respected and students are inferior" is gradually weakening.Instead,it advocates a more equal,democratic and harmonious relationship between teachers and students.In the interaction between teachers and students in primary schools,teachers no longer oppress students by coercive means and passively obey the teacher's instructions in classroom teaching.In the daily interaction between teachers and students,teachers also step down from the altar,understand and care about everything about students,and actively interact with students,ensuring the effectiveness and continuity of communication between teachers and students.3.In view of the various manifestations of teacher authority in the relationship between primary school teachers and students,this paper analyzes and concludes that the effect of teacher authority on primary school teachers and students will be conducive to the emotional communication between teachers and students;It is beneficial for teachers and students to develop into a partnership of inquiry knowledge.It is conducive to creating an environment suitable for both teachers and students to grow up together.At the same time,in the face of the lack of institutional authority of teachers,it may not be conducive to the implementation of school education and teaching activities;In addition,when teachers lose the status of knowledge authority and face the challenge from students,it is inevitable that some teachers will deviate from their ideas and form alienation and conflict between teachers and students.4.Finally,in the process of using authoritative strategies,teachers are more and more respecting the principal status of students,considering the psychological endurance ability of primary school students,demanding themselves with higher teacher standards,and adopting the means and strategies that are most conducive to the benign development of the teacher-student relationship in primary schools.
