With the reform of education and teaching,"Curriculum Standard" puts forward that in order to meet the needs of the development of the times for personnel training,special attention should be paid to the development of students' awareness of application and innovation.To cultivate the consciousness of application and innovation is to be able to think in a mathematical way of thinking,while the classification method of thinking can effectively cultivate students' thinking flexibility,hierarchy,generality,rigor and logic.While students are perceiving the thought of classification,their thinking is developing at the same time.The thought method of classification plays an important role in the development of students' thinking.In this context,the author believes that it is necessary to clarify the connotation of classification methods,the types of knowledge that trigger the discussion of classification,to find out the current situation of the application of classification methods among junior high school students,and to put forward some teaching strategies and suggestions for penetrating classification methods in view of the reasons affecting the application level of classification methods among junior high school students.Therefore,this paper selected the freshmen of three public schools(hereinafter referred to as schools A,B,C)in S City of Jilin Province as the subjects of investigation.Through several links,such as test papers,collecting scores,summarizing and analyzing,the survey data are systematically studied,and the current situation of the application of classification thinking and methods among junior middle school students in S area is analyzed.The research finds that the junior middle school students in S area are not proficient enough in the application of classification thinking methods and their mastery is not enough,with an average score of 16.91,only 42% of the full score.The girls in S city are better at the application of classification thinking methods than boys.The students are more proficient in the application of classification thinking methods in the four types of test questions,but can not correctly and flexibly use classification thinking in the two types and three types of test questions.Find ways to solve problems.Through the analysis of the above findings,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)The junior middle school students in S area have not mastered enough mathematical classification methods.(2)There is no significant difference between male and female students in S area in the application level of classification methods.(3)There are obvious differences in the proficiency of different types of test questions.(4)The proficiency of students of different genders in applying the classification method is related to the type of test questions.(5)Mathematical achievement is positively correlated with the application level of classification methods.(6)There are common reasons for students' mistake in solving different types of questions.
