Under the background of the New Curriculum Standard,mathematical modeling is one of the core qualities of six subjects and more and more attention has been paid to at home and abroad.Before mathematical modeling,a test of whether students have the corresponding mathematical modeling ability plays an important role in high school students'mathematical modeling development.Based on this,this study focuses on how to evaluate the mathematical modeling ability of senior high school students.Therefore,this paper firstly determines the indicators of senior high students'mathematical modeling ability through referring to a large number of literature;secondly,it pretests the mathematical modeling ability of high school students in different areas of Hebei Province,studies macroscopically the comprehensive scores of high school students'mathematical modeling ability,and discovers microcosmically the differences of mathematical modeling ability between boys and girls,the differences in areas of Hebei Province,and the difference of ability and the stratification of mathematical modeling ability of a class of senior high school students.And the reliability of the comprehensive score is tested by hierarchical clustering method.Finally,based on the study on the mathematical modeling of high school students in Hebei Province,the relevant countermeasures are discussed to improve the mathematical modeling ability of high school students.This research mainly includes four parts:The first part is the introduction,which mainly elaborates the purpose,research background,questions,significance,methods and contents.The second part is a literature review.It expounds the concepts of prototype and model,mathematical model,mathematical modeling,mathematical modeling ability and Pre-test of Mathematical Modeling Ability related to this study,analyses the research status of mathematical modeling at home and abroad,and establishes the required abilities of mathematical modeling,mainly including reading comprehension ability,logical reasoning ability,mathematical ability,computing ability and computer ability and teamwork and innovation ability.The third part is the pre-test of mathematical modeling ability in this research and implementation,using principal component analysis and hierarchical clustering method to design the pre-test of mathematical modeling ability,expatiating on the methods used in the evaluation research,the selection of objects,the design of questionnaires,test papers and scoring standards,as well as the implementation of the evaluation research.The fourth part is the conclusion and suggestions of the pre-test of mathematical modeling ability of high school students in Hebei Province.The conclusions of this thesis are as follows:the test results show that the pre-test of mathematical modeling ability of high school students in Hengshui City,Baoding City and Tangshan City of Hebei Province is similar.Reading comprehension ability and logical reasoning ability are strong,but the computer ability,team cooperation ability,innovation ability,computing ability and mathematical ability are relatively weak.In addition,the regional and gender differences of mathematical modeling ability of high school students in Hebei Province are not significant.Results of questionnaire explains that students have a narrow understanding of mathematical modeling knowledge,and even some relevant schools do not have mathematical modeling courses.However,many students are active and interested in learning mathematical modeling,and are willing to participate in the mathematical modeling community.Hierarchical clustering method proves the comprehensive results obtained by principal component analysis method are reliable.In conclusion,this thesis puts forward the following reasons for the low ability of mathematical modeling:inadequate preparation before mathematical modeling;insufficient understanding of the value of mathematics;insufficient awareness of students'application of mathematics;lack of attention to the development of mathematical modeling ability in schools;insufficient thinking of students'mathematical modeling.In view of the above reasons,this thesis puts forward the following suggestions:pay attention to the cultivation of various abilities;Acknowledge that teachers play a guiding role in teaching;set up mathematical modeling courses,competitions and lectures;And integrate mathematical modeling ideas into teaching.
