Shanghai's Mothers Of Preschool Children Express Their Warmth Attributions And Ways To Their Children

The warmth expression of the mother to the child is not only the expression of the child's positive emotion,but also the supportive,non-punitive education of the child's encouragement,praise and guidance in the parenting style.At the same time,the first study also considers the warmth expression as an important dimension of parenting.From the research on parenting style in recent years,the specific attribution and behavior of mother's warmth expression are relatively less explored.In view of this,this study uses qualitative research methods to explore the current status of warm expression of preschool children in Shanghai,and to provide more rich and positive experience for early family education.The study was conducted on 170 small-class mothers in two kindergartens in Shanghai.The semi-structured interview research method was used to explore the importance of mothers' expression of warmth to children and the attribution and specific ways of expressing love.The study adopted a subject analysis method for data analysis.After coding,five important attributes of warmth expression are found: “to provide a sense of security for children”,“to allow children to receive adult instruction”,“mother instinct”,“to keep children and family members "Intimacy" "in order to promote the development of children's social emotional ability." Among them,“to satisfy the child's sense of security” and “to promote the development of children's social emotional ability” are the most important reasons for parents.In addition,six specific ways of expressing warmth are discovered through research: “companion”,“emotional participation”,“living care”,“limb expression”,“verbal expression”,and “educational teaching”.Among them,“limb expression” is the most frequent expression method proposed by parents.In general,the warmth expression of the pre-school children's mothers in Shanghai has several unique characteristics under the changing historical background and family culture background.Under the changing historical background of the times,China has ushered the "Second child Era" and more "Working Mothers." The mother who has two children thinks that the first child needs more warmth expression.And the "Working Mothers" will pay more attention to the warmth expression and know more about how to express their warmth to the children.As Chinese traditional culture is influenced by Western culture,Chinese mothers are more willing to express their warmth directly to their children and pay more attention to their emotional guidance.However,it shows the characteristics that they pay more attention to the negative emotions than the positive emotions.The researchers put forward the following educational recommendations for the status quo of Chinese mothers' warmth expression: 1.Help the mother to learn about warmth expression through the Parent School.2.Changing the stability of implicit theory through Multicultural Infiltration.3.Helping mothers balance family emotions through citizen schools.This study not only provides some reference for the study of the status quo of warmth expression of preschool children in Shanghai,but also provides some guidance value for strengthening the level of warmth expression of mothers in practice.
