Graphic representation plays a very important role in problem solving.The graphic representation studied in this paper,especially those commonly used by high school physics students,mainly divided into diagrammatic sketch and functional graphs.This paper defines the concept of the application ability of graphic representation in physics learning,that is,the ability of students to present physical situation and movement process by using concepts and rules through the representation of schematic graphs and functional graphs in the process of physics learning,and to apply graphic analysis to solve problems,namely,the following three aspects: reading ability,composition ability and the ability to solve problems by using graphs.On the basis of the theoretical framework,this paper uses the methods of literature,investigation and other research methods to select 120 senior two students from each high school in Shanghai and Zhejiang for questionnaires and tests.The survey shows that the overall application ability of high school students in graphic representation is low,and the application ability of key class students is better than that of ordinary class students.Most students have common problems in application ability,and there are specific deficiencies in four different types of representation.On the basis of the previous investigation,this paper puts forward some strategies to improve the students' application ability of graphic representation.One is to improve the student' overall application ability of graphic representation,that is,to cultivate their teaching strategies of reading,composing and solving with graphs in a standardized way.The other is to improve the strategies of deficiencies in each type of schematic and functional diagram.Finally,according to the proposed strategy,this paper designs teaching cases of “Description of Speed-Acceleration”,“Composition of Force”,“Measurement of Battery's Electromotive Force and Internal Resistance”and “Law of Conservation of Mechanical Energy”.It is hoped that teachers can pay attention to enhancing students' ability to read and understand pictures,standardizing their drawing level,and enhancing their awareness of using pictures,so as to enhance students' ability to apply the graphical representation of sketches and functional graphs.This paper is mainly composed of six parts:The first part mainly introduces the research background and significance of graphic representation,and introduces the research status and concept definition of graphic representation at home and abroad.The second part mainly introduces the theoretical basis of graphical representation,which is a branch of problem representation in the representation of large categories.It introduces that the graphical representation in this study can be divided into four categories: concept,rule diagram,motion scenario schematic diagram,structure connection diagram and function diagram.It also studies the ability of recognizing,composing and solving graphs in each type.The third part uses tests and questionnaires to investigate the current situation of the application ability of four types of graphic representation of senior high school students and the analysis of teachers' and students' attitudes towards graphic representation and their deficiencies in application ability.The fourth part,on the basis of the previous investigation,puts forward targeted teaching strategies,including holistic strategies and targeted strategies for different types of graphic representation.The fifth part designs four teaching cases for four kinds of graphic representation according to teaching strategies.This study classifies four kinds of graphical representation,hoping to improve students' application ability of graphical representation in real classroom.The sixth part is the summary,shortcomings and prospects of this research.This study summarizes the current situation of the application ability of physical graphics representation in senior high schools and the corresponding strategies and application cases to improve the ability,enrich the research of physics teaching methods in senior high schools,and provide some reference for the follow-up study.
