Facing with the problems of family diversification and the impact of rapid social development,parents urgently need parental education to better educate their children,improve themselves and build a good family.At present,China mainly conducts family education guidance from three channels:school,media and social professional institution.Among them,school is a quiet important channel.The new citizens are new urban residents who are accompanied by the urbanization process in China.Most of them are young groups who are ready or already married.However,they are still exploring how to be qualified and excellent parents.In this regard,parental education in schools is promising.Based on the current research and the perspective of adult learning,this paper analyzes the family education learning needs of new citizens as a special adult group,and makes recommendations to promote the effective development of parental education in schools.Through combing the related research,it can be found that the research on parental education in schools mainly focuses on four dimensions:participation motivation,participation hindrance,participation content and participation form.This study used the four dimensions to examine the current status of new citizens'participation in school parental education and the differences in the participation needs of new citizens from different backgrounds.In this study,the questionnaire was survey-based,and the participatory observation and interview survey were supplemented.The object was based on the parents of D primary school in Daishan where is the centralized indemnificatory housing area in Nanjing.The main research tool was the self-made questionnaire which mainly refer to "Questionnaire of Chinese Family Education Guidance Service for parents" compiled by China National Children's Center.It is found that the motivation of new citizens to participate in school parental education is relatively strong,and the direct motivation is mainly based on internal development;the new citizens' participation hindrance in school parental education is weak,and the objective obstacles are mostly;the new citizens have high demand for various contents of parental education,especially activities related to the children's learning;the new citizens have high demand for various forms of parental education,especially the networked parents-teacher communication.At the same time,new citizens from different backgrounds in grade and academic record of children,type of housing,level of education,sexes,have different modes of demand for parental education in schools.In the process of implementing parental education in schools,new citizens should take the initiative to learn parental knowledge and participate in family education guidance activities actively.At the same time,all social forces should also take action to effectively support and serve parental education.As an important position for parental education,the school has both the responsibility and the obligation to carry out activities according to the needs of parents.Schools should follow the principles of dual subject,comprehension,fairness,and demand-oriented,and actively promote the effectiveness of parental education in schools from the four aspects of educational philosophy,educational content,educational forms,and educators.
