A modern social disease called “burnout” has gradually spread to all walks of life.Due to more pressure sources and greater stress, teachers have become a high-risk group of burnout. In the past, many studies have shown that there is a significant negative correlation between job burnout and work engagement. However, there are few studies on whether the relationship between the two is affected by the third variable and which third variable is affected.Because the sense of purpose of life can bring more good state to the individual and resist the negative state and negative development results. Therefore, this study is based on the perspective of the purpose of life, with it as the adjustment variable, job burnout as the independent variable, and work engagement as the dependent variable,to analyze and explore the role of the sense of purpose in life between job burnout and work engagement. In order to provide a theoretical support for the sense of life and the level of work engagement of primary and secondary school teachers, the slowdown and even elimination of job burnout. In this study, the primary and secondary school teachers were selected as the research objects, and the methods of empirical research were used to organize and analyze the data through the form of on-site questionnaires. The following conclusions were drawn:Firstly, the three variables of job burnout, work engagement, and sense of purpose in life have different degrees of demographic differences.Specifically,in terms of gender, there were no significant differences between the three variables. In terms of teaching age,the level of job burnout of teachers with shorter teaching time is higher than that of teachers with longer teaching time, and the level of sense of purpose of life is lower than that of teachers who have been teaching for a long time.In terms of professional titles, the level of job burnout of teachers with middle professional titles and above is lower than that of teachers with lower professional titles. In terms of professional titles, the level of job burnout of teachers with high professional titles is lower than that of teachers with lower professional titles, and the level of work engagement is higher than that of teachers with low professional titles. In terms of teaching, teachers in senior high school have the lowest level of job burnout. In terms of marital status, the level of job burnout of married teachers is lower than that of unmarried teachers, and The level of sense of purpose in life is higher than that of unmarried teachers. When it comes to parenting, the level of job burnout of teachers who are already parents is lower than that of teachers who are not parents, and a teacher with a higher sense of purpose than a teacher who is not a parent.Secondly, job burnout, work engagement, and sense of purpose were significantly correlated with each other.Among them, job burnout and its dimensions can explain the work engagement negatively. The sense of purpose of life can negatively predict the level of job burnout, and positively predict the level of work engagement.Thirdly, there is a moderating effect between the sense of personal accomplishment, the totalscore of work engagement and its dimension score in the dimension of sense of purpose in life. There is no moderating effect between emotional exhaustion and total score and dimension score of work engagement with sense of purpose in life. There is no adjustment effect between the dehumanization and the total score and dimension score of the work engagement in the sense of having the purpose of life.
