The continuous development of China’s economy has made social thoughts more active and diversified in value.This has led many college students to present confusion and indifference in their ideals and moral ethics,especially in the ideological and moral aspects.At the same time,Xi Jinping’s new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics has provided scientific guidance for the university’s morality education and put forward new requirements and new tasks for the moral education of colleges and universities in the new era.Therefore,how to improve the function of library moral education is particularly urgent and important.University moral education includes the education of moral cognition,the shaping of emotion,the cultivation of willpower and the behavior mode,etc.It covers the basic morality and the most basic behavior standard education in college students’ daily life.The function of moral education in university libraries has "hiddenness",which influences the moral concepts of college students imperceptibly,and enables them to continuously improve their moral qualities through theoretical study and moral education activities in the library.University libraries have many functions such as moral education,psychological counseling,sentimental cultivation and reshaping of life.The characteristics of moral education in university libraries mainly include sociality,diversity,whole process,flexibility and extensiveness.These characteristics are reflected in the library borrowing,communication,and reader education.The function of moral education in college libraries is not only an inevitable requirement of college students,but also an important supplement to college moral education classrooms;it is an inevitable requirement of college students’ moral education and an ideal place for college students to expand their quality.The problems in the function of moral education and the improvement of moral education in college libraries in the new era mainly include the lack of cognition of moral education in college libraries,the backwardness of software and hardware configuration and the lag of informatization,the lack of library moral education service,and the function of library moral education.Not enough publicity.To improve the function of moral education in college libraries,we should take Xi Jinping’s new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics as the guidance,take the university as the field,take the library as the main body,take moral education as the domain,and take the moral education as the purpose and goal.To enhance the educators’ cognition level of the moral education function of college libraries,it is necessary to expand the library resources,especially the moral education resources of college libraries;it is necessary to enrich the reader service content of university libraries,and to build the library readers’ independent services.The system improves the moral education environment of university libraries from the optimization of the allocation of library moral education function resources and the construction of library moral education humanities,and effectively improves the level of library moral education function.
