Subjective well-being is an important indicator used in the evaluation of adolescents' mental health.Studies have shown that subjective well-being is affected to some extent by academic performance and self-efficacy,and junior high school students in the remote urban area are a group with relatively scarce education resources and low research attention. In view of this situation, this project takes three junior high schools in suburbs of Wuhan City as an example to investigate the characteristics of subjective well-being,academic performance, and self-efficacy of junior high school students in suburbs. The relationship between academic performance and the moderating effect of self-efficacy,with a view to providing operational suggestions for improving the subjective well-being of junior high school students in the urban areas and promoting their mental health development. In this study, the “Adolescent Life Satisfaction Scale” compiled by Zhang Xinggui and He Liguo in 2004,and the “General Self-Efficacy Scale”(GSES)translated and revised by Wang Caikang et al.(2001)were used.A total of 2,733 students from three middle schools in the suburbs of the city conducted a questionnaire survey and obtained 1,814 valid questionnaires. The results are as follows:(1)The overall performance of junior high school students in the remote urban area meets the requirements for teaching quality.Girls are generally better than boys in their studies, but whether or not they are the only children has no significant effect on their academic performance;(2)The overall level of subjective well-being of junior high school students in the far-city district is relatively high, and seventh-grade and only-child children are relatively higher, and the gender impact is not significant;(3)The self-efficacy of the junior middle school students in the far-city districts showed significant differences in the three factors of different genders, grades and whether they are the only children, and the self-efficacy of the seventh grade, boys and only children was higher;(4)The sense of self-efficacy of junior high school students in the far-city districts increases significantly with the improvement of their scores, which is positively correlated;(5)The subjective well-being and self-efficacy of junior high school students in the remote urban area are positively correlated, and the levels of each dimension are significantly correlated.(6)The analysis of the mediating effect shows that the self-efficacy of the junior middle school students in the remote urban area has a significant mediating effect between academic performance and subjective well-being,and there are some mediating effects. Conclusion: Society, schools, and families should aggregate and tilt educational resources, and use self-efficacy as a starting point to promote the overall improvement of junior middle school students' academic performance and subjective well-being.
