Background: Parent involvement refers to behaviors implemented by parents in education to promote children’s learning and development.Previous studies have focused on the relationship between parent involvement,self-efficacy,and academic performance,but no studies have systematically investigated that students of junior high school of grade seven’s self-efficacy have relationship with parent involvement in three subdivisions: emotional involvement,intellectual involvement,and behavioral involvement.In addition,there are different opinions about the relationship between parent involvement including it’s dimensions and academic performance,and there is still a lack of relevant research on the internal mechanism of parent involvement,self-efficacy and academic performance.This study aims to explore the relationship among parent involvement including it’s dimensions,self-efficacy and academic performance,and aims to explore whether parent involvement affect academic performance through self-efficacy.Objective:(1)To find out students of junior high school of grade seven’s parent involvement situation,and whether self-efficacy related to academic performance;(2)To explore relationship of parent involvement,self-efficacy and academic performance,to find out whether parent involvement affect academic performance through self-efficacy.Methods: The study take 320 junior high school of grade students from Henan Province as sample,using student self-reporting method with parent involvement questionnaire of junior high school student,and Self-efficacy questionnaire,using correlation analysis,t test,analysis of variance,and analysis of mediation effects methods.Results:(1)The level of mother involvement is significantly higher than the level of father involvement in junior high school students of grade seven.(2)There is a significant difference in parent involvement of different education levels,the educational participation level of mothers in junior high school education or above is significantly higher than mothers in primary school education,and fathers in high school education or above is significantly higher than fathers in primary school education;and there is no significant difference in gender and single parent.(3)There is a significant positive correlation among parent involvement,self-efficacy and academic performance;parent emotional involvement,intellectual involvement,and behavioral involvement have positive correlation with self-efficacy;Mother’s emotional involvement,intellectual involvement,father’s behavioral involvement have positive correlation with academic performance.(4)Self-efficacy of junior high school students of grade seven can predict academic performance;Self-efficacy is significantly positively correlated with academic performance,learning ability self-efficacy and learning behavior self-efficacy are significantly positively correlated with academic performance.(5)Junior high school students’ parent involvement affect academic performance through self-efficacy;Parents’ emotion involvement,intelligence involvement and behavior involvement affect academic performance through learning ability self-efficacy.Conclusion:(1)Parent involvement have a positive impact on students’ self-efficacy and academic performance,and the higher level of self-efficacy,the better academic performance;the dimensions of parent involvement have a positive impact on self-efficacy,and the impact of academic performance is different.(2)Junior high school students’ parent involvement affect academic performance through self-efficacy;Parents’ emotion involvement,intelligence involvement and behavior involvement affect academic performance through learning ability self-efficacy.
