In the 21st century,the competition between nations is increasingly marked by the contest for talents.Only by cultivating students'critical thinking can we enhance their ability to question,to analyze and to solve problems,so as to meet the requirements of society for citizens and talents.Senior high school is the key period for cultivating their critical thinking.Chinese is a fundamental discipline featured by humanity and utility.As a special literary form,news review,which selects materials from daily life and is featured by reasonable expression,is worth introducing into the cultivation of students'critical thinking.This article takes the teaching of news review writing in high school as the research object,by means of literature research,case studies,questionnaires and other methods,and works out serialized and feasible teaching strategies,including preparation strategies,writing strategies and Chinese activity strategies.At first,by combing the literature from home and abroad,this article defines the concepts of"critical thinking"and"news review".Then,the article expounds the value of news review writing,presents the status of news review writing teaching,and analyses several causes.The preparation strategies for teachers and students are shown as below.Firstly,the college entrance examination has the trend of shifting from abstract theories to critical analysis.Secondly,teachers'own critical thinking as well as their ability to assign propositions should be improved.Thirdly,students should do critical reading under the guidance of teachers.In order to avoid the shortcomings of empty talk,the article proposes writing strategies for students.It is suggested that students should be equipped with rich professional knowledge;profound and new arguments must be based on facts;fallacy should be avoided when training students'critical thinking;the structure of the argumentation must be clearly demonstrated;writing language should be lucid and refined.Various Chinese activities ranging from traditional writing class through in-class activities like speech,debating and discussion,to the emerging online platforms like Weibo and Wechat,are proposed to fulfill the same objective of critical thinking.Critical thinking aims to draw materials from life and serve our daily life.At last,the article makes reflection on critical thinking,explores its connection with inclusive thinking and comprehensive quality,and predicts the broad application of critical thinking in the future.
