On The Relationship Between Fujian-Taiwan Agricultural Cooperation And The Growth Of The Agricultural Economy Of Fujian

With the advantageous environment of good timing,geographical convenience and harmonious human relations,Fujian province has been conducting agricultural cooperation with Taiwan for over 30 years.Agricultural cooperation between Fujian and Taiwan is one of the features of Fujian agricultural development and it is an important component of across-strait agricultural cooperation as well.It plays an important role for demonstration in agricultural cooperation between Fujian and Taiwan.The relationship between Fujian-Taiwan agricultural cooperation and the agricultural economy growth of Fujian could be described as both stimulating and interdependent.Their relationship brings a surge of research from the scholars across the straits.Based on related research results at home and abroad,the paper summarizes and analyzes the differences in resource endowments between Fujian and Taiwan from the perspective of the factors of production including capital,technology,labor,and land.The paper summarizes the communication and cooperation among Fujian-Taiwan agriculture,agricultural products trade,Taiwan FDI in Fujian province,Fujian-Taiwan agricultural science and technology exchanges,and the construction of Fujian-Taiwan agricultural cooperation zone.On the basis of the above,the paper implements empirical analysis on the relationship between Fujian-Taiwan agricultural cooperation and the agricultural economic growth of Fujian.Based on the data from Fujian-Taiwan agricultural trade volume in 2000-2013,the actual use of Taiwan FDI in Fujian agriculture,and Fujian agricultural GDP,the paper exemplifies the effects of Fujian-Taiwan agricultural cooperation on the agricultural economy growth of Fujian.The empirical results draw the following conclusions.Firstly,the current mode of Fujian agricultural growth still relies on labor rather than capital elements,which shows that Fujian agriculture is still in the transition period from traditional agriculture to modern agriculture development.Secondly,Fujian-Taiwan agricultural trade is the main influencing factor of improving Fujian agricultural GDP.Finally,the empirical analysis concludes that Taiwan FDI in Fujian agriculture has a negative effect on Fujian agricultural GDP.This paper attempts to explain the results from the causes as Lag Effect and Crowding-out Effect of Taiwan FDI and Fujian agricultural structure upgrading.The paper presents countermeasures and suggestions on strengthening the efficient use of Taiwan FDI in Fujian agriculture,promoting the construction of a free trade area between Fujian and Taiwan,and strengthening the cooperation between Fujian-Taiwan emerging industries.
