BEST’s Technology Layout Optimization Analysis

Since 2015 is the last year of “the Twelfth Five-Year Plan”,the engineering machinery industry has a big change by comparing the situation five years ago.Xuzhou Best Machinery Co.Ltd.was built in 1996 and its productions focus on engineering machinery fabrication parts.It is the strategic supplier to Caterpillar which is the global engineering machinery magnate in USA.And we try to develop an effective optimization strategy in technology layout to survive and develop in the competition due to the domestic competition pressure.This article analyzes Xuzhou Best Machinery Co.Ltd.’s current technology production layout by using Lean Production theory and drew “Current Value Flow Chart” with the tool of SWOT,Value Flow chart,Plato.Second the article describes the problems found in Current Flow,for example,the waste process in production,layout and logistics.The third it designs a Future Flow by comparing the difference between Current and Future Flow as well as emphasized the necessary to do process optimization.The forth it designs two Flows by combining current situation and future development requirements as well as the layout design policy and the all kinds of layout characteristics.Then the article lists the company’s current main production process route and analyzes the actual situation.Based on the analyzed result,the article designs two main production lines and draws a future value stream by using the concept of lean production and layout design.Through the discussions with the professional staff and the managers inside,the article develops an optimization plan focusing on the company production process.The main change is using U-shaped line layout mode to design the two production lines which are fully considered the requirements of a variety of parts in one production line.In logistics side,the optimization splits the people,car,material separately so as to improve efficiency and strengthen the safety,especially,a special visit road is also designed.The optimization reduces the frequency of use of the forklift in the material transport processes to eliminate emissions as well as reduce noise pollution.Finally the new design passes through the practice and improves the production efficiency and reduces the cost.Based on Lean Production theory,this article summarizes the most important thing for company survive is reducing waste and cost which this process optimization focuses on.This article is another kind of example for domestic companies to discuss and analyze,especially a kind of thinking methods for cost reduction.
