Under the new pattern of global trade reform, technological innovation and the development of emerging industries and global production methods have become a new trend of industrial transformation and upgrading, while the low-end locking and extensive development of China's value chain is difficult to continue.China's industry has entered a situation that is necessary to accelerate the implementation of transformation and upgrading in order to continue the rapid healthy development. The international division of labor under the GVCs will also lead the developed countries such as the United States and Germany to closely lock their participation in the global value chain to the core of high value-added,which makes it difficult for developing countries such as China to obtain the right to speak at the core of the value chain. Therefore,on the impact of the continuous deepening of the global value chain,in order to China's manufacturing industry transformation and upgrading, the industry has successfully climbed to the high-end core of the value chain, and it is of great significance to carry out relevant research.Based on relevant theories of industrial economics and international economics, firstly,it sorts out the impact mechanism of global value chain embedding on the transformation and upgrading of China's manufacturing industry.Global value chain embedding drives economic development, industrial structure and trade structure, and industrial greening. The technological progress effect, human capital structure and institutional factors promote the industrial transformation and upgrading.Secondly, this paper clarifies the different upgrading methods industry by the two dimensions of global value chain embedding position and value-added ability, and constructs the“smile curve” origin slope. This new index measures the degree of global value chain embedding. Finally, this paper uses factor analysis to construct a comprehensive index of China's manufacturing transformation and upgrading, and uses the generalized least squares estimation method to test the global value chain embedding to China's manufacturing transformation and upgrading. There is a certain difference between the positive driving effect and the impact on the upgraded heterogeneous industry. In addition,on the one hand, this paper conducts a robustness test after China's entry into the WTO(2002-2014)and before and after the financial crisis(2000-2007 and2008-2014),ensuring the reliability of sample data selection over time;On the other hand, this paper uses the global value chain status(GVC_Position)and global value chain participation(GVC_Participation)to represent the global value chain embedding degree, respectively,to ensure the reliability of the "smile curve" origin slope index establishment. Therefore, this paper draws the following conclusions through research: Firstly, the deepening of global value chain embedded has effectively promoted the transformation and upgrading of China's manufacturing industry;Secondly, the global value chain embeds a certain degree to inhibit product upgrade-oriented transformation and upgrading, and the process upgrade type The function-upgrade-type-I and the function-upgrade-type-I manufacturing transformation and upgrading effect have a significant positive driving effect. For product-improved manufacturing, such industries increase industry value-added capabilities only by increasing the proficiency of workers' production and diversifying products to meet consumer preferences. But as China's participation in global value chains continues to deepen and the rise of emerging economies in Southeast Asia, this type of industry will be severely squeezed by the "low-cost" and "quantity"-based production models and low-end innovations, and the transformation and upgrading will be suppressed to a greater extent.
