Following the “One Road and One Belt” strategy in recent years,China engineering enterprises have achieved impressive performance in the international contract market,but however during this period,we have noticed that there is a big difference at environment between international project and domestic project,which results in project management have big difference.In consequence of that,due to unfamiliarity with international engineering project management,especially of claims management,China engineering contracting corporations always result in a loss position at economic aspect of international projects.This paper uses a progressive approach to explain the claim management methodology.First of all,introduce the standard process of international project management,to explain each modules of international project management methodology,and use systemic theory to let reader further understand the top-down management philosophy which include project management,commercial management,contract management,claim management.Secondly,using the FIDIC as guideline,to explain the claim definition,how is the detail claim process while claim event happened.Finally,we have study recent international engineering project to explain that how is the claim management so important during the project execution,during the construction phase,the contractor has often faced disruption and delays due to the employer and other interface contractor faulty,which results in contractor has to put additional resources to execute the project,but however contractor use their best endeavor to manage the claim process,and finally the contractor has been got reasonable compensation fromemployer to guarantee project economic margin.
