A Study On Measures To Improve Export Competitiveness Of Thai Cassava

In recent years,the social and political environments of Thailand are getting more stabilized and resulting Thailand's domestic economy to progressive development.Under the economic and technical support from the Thai government,there is a boost development in the agricultural products of Thailand,and it has become one of the main export products of Thailand.As one of the agricultural products,it gains considerable income for Thailand,and making Thailand become the biggest exporting country of cassava.Also the amount of employees in the cassava industries,from the production to the processing,is one-sixth of the population of Thailand.Furthermore the export trade of cassava affects the wages of the industries' workers and the social stability directly.Therefore,research and study about the promotions of cassava's competitiveness of Thailand is more and more important and significance to Thailand's economy.Firstly this paper using the data from 2001 to 2016.From the aspects of export structure and export price of cassava in Thailand,it described the status of Thai cassava export trade,summed up the existing problems of Thai cassava export and analyzed the possible factors affecting Thai cassava export.Furthermore it grabbing the advantage of the occupancy of international market,the export contribution rate,the trade competition index and indexes with better indications to calculate the level of competitiveness of the export trade of Thailand's cassava.Finally,this thesis focuses on the main factors which affect the international competitiveness of Thailand's cassava by applying the multiple linear regression model.With the foundations of the previous article's analysis,this article gives a few suggestions regarding the production policy of cassava:1.Strengthen the technical used in cassava cultivation,especially in the aspects of climate countermeasures,pests prevention,and the innovation of new process of technology,in order to reduce the cost of production of cassava;2.The government must improve the related financial support policy of cassava cultivation,to encourage the peasants to plant cassava through ways such as loaning,and guarantee the interests of the peasants,and maintain the cost advantage of the exports of Thailand's cassava through reducing the tariff;3.Increase the diversity of cassava simultaneously by using modern information technology such as social media which has good ways for the sales and develop the potential market,then increase the international competitiveness of Thailand's cassava and also create a brand with effectiveness and fame;4.Improve the sanitary standards of cassava and enhance consumers' confidence in food safety;5.Promoting Thailand's cassava by using advantage of free trade zone.
