| Being two key elements in people’s daily lives,"home and"work"complement and influence each other. From a microcosmic point of view, the work place and the residential area are the major areas of activity for people.A reasonable distribution of the two a reas in cities can effectively reduce the pressure of commuting and save time, which in turn improves the quality of life. From a macroscopic perspective, shortening commuting time can alleviate traffic pressure, reduce environmental pollution, and help create a low-ca rbon society that aims for energy conservation and emission reduction. The urban economy in transformation is facilitating the qualitative evolution of urban spatial structure in China. In a large city like Beijing, there have been phenomena of separation of work place and home, and spatial mismatch, etc. These contribute to significant increases in commuting distance and time, which adversely affects residents’ quality of life and city order.Incorporating the home-work equilibrium theory and previous research, this paper used the rail transit corridor area as the starting point and selected Fangshan-9 line as the subject of study. The author designed an individual-based questionnaire to investigate the commuting situation of residents with the goal of accessing the home-work equilibrium state of the rail transit corridor, analyzing its factors of influence, and making recommendations about its optimization.Firstly, this paper summarizes the concepts of home-work equilibrium, urban rail transit and rail tra nsit corridor by reviewing the relevant literatu re.Secondly,it analyzes the factors of influence in home-work spatial equilibrium, including the impact of commuting distance and time on home-work balance, the range of the impact of entrance and exit on the stations, and the resources of parking and transfer stations, etc. In addition, the paper focuses on the impact of housing and employment factors on home-work balance, and evaluates the commuting cost for urban residents. On this basis, this paper reports a case study focusing on the rail transit corridor area of Fangshan-9 line in Beijing.Through interviews and investigations, the author collected the relevant information including individual commuting time, commuting cost, residence location and work address in the rail transit corridor area, and combined this with the big data of rail trip card swiping. The objective is to reveal the influence of relevant factors on home-work relationship from multiple angles, and then to interpret the current home-work space status of Fangshan-9 line. Finally, this paper makes recommendations about the transformation and development of rail transit corridor area with the goal of achieving home-work balance, and summarizes the methods of integrating rail station and its node function as well as the methods of synergy between station and surrounding land. |
