At the same time that the international division of labor has emerged, countries all over the world have participated in the Global Value Chain(GVC)and have gained profits based on their location.Due to the different progress of participating in the global value chain, the business profits brought by them are also significantly different, which ultimately affects the domestic industry upgrade and its progress in different countries. At present,in order to improve the position of the country in the GVC,what kind of scientific policy guides the country to use the most optimized form to join the GVC,share the benefits equivalent to the contribution it has made, and ultimately drive the industry.Optimizing and upgrading is a hot topic that has attracted much attention from the academic community. The proposal of "Made in China 2025" indicates that China has begun to implement the strategy of manufacturing a strong country, and manufacturing is the foundation of China's economic development. Therefore,it is important to study the degree of China!s embedding in the global value chain and its impact on manufacturing upgrading. This paper firstly creates a global value chain embedding degree index based on the industry upstream index, and measures it according to the 2003-2015 world input-output table. Then, based on the 2003-2015 China industry panel data, the DEA model is used to measure the manufacturing industry. The Malmquist index of factor productivity changes, then calculate the proportion of industry output value of different factor density to the total output value of the manufacturing industry, and finally empirically test the impact of GVC embedding on manufacturing upgrade. This paper uses a combination of empirical test and theoretical analysis to explain and analyze the problem, and finally form the following argument:the degree of global value chain embedding can promote the upgrading of China's manufacturing industry, specifically to the category,it is for capital-intensive industries and The promotion of labor-intensive industries is more significant while the promotion of technology-intensive industries is weaker.Based on the results of empirical analysis and theoretical analysis, this paper gives corresponding policy recommendations.
