With the development of international trade, production segmentation extends to the global level.Today, with the deepening of international production segmentation, the added value of products is decomposed and Shared by all countries in the world, and forming a value-added trade model based on global value chain theory.China has been adhering to the concept of open cooperation, actively participating in the international division of production, and deeply embedded in the global value chain. However, with the rise of international trade protectionism in recent years and the decline of domestic labor factor advantages,China's development in the global value chain is in a bottleneck. Therefore, how to adjust the way of embedding in the global value chain to adapt to the new trading environment and provide new impetus for the long-term development of China's economy is a topic worth further exploration. The structural reform proposed by the third plenary session of the 18 th central committee is an important solution to maintain the steady growth of China's economy. In a production chain, the added value at both ends of the production chain close to the producer and the consumer is high, while the added value at the middle part of the production chain is low.To promote the development of domestic economy with highquality embedded global value chain,it is necessary to adjust the model of embedded global value chain and encourage domestic enterprises to embed into the global value chain from the production and consumption ends. The research in this paper focuses on two types of value chain embedding: production-end embedding and consumption-end embedding.Combining with previous literature,it constructs a theoretical framework and explores how to embed global value chain by means of index measurement and empirical test, which is more beneficial to the long-term stable development of economy. In this paper,by constructing forward and backward embedded depth indexes of global value chain(GVC),the depth of bilateral embedded global value chain(GVC)in China's manufacturing industry was measured respectively, and the relationship between bilateral embedded depth of GVC and enterprise productivity was analyzed and tested with data of Chinese micro-enterprises from 2008 to 2013.The calculated results show that the forward and backward embedded depths of GVC in various industries in China are both higher than the world average level, and the trend is basically on the rise.Among them, the bilateral embedded depths of GVC in laborintensive industries are higher, while the bilateral embedded depths of GVC in technology-intensive industries are significantly higher.Through the comprehensive comparison of the bilateral embedding depth of GVC,the backward embedding depth of GVC in all industries is higher than the forward embedding depth, indicating that China is in the middle and back end of the global value chain as a whole. The empirical results show that :(1)GVC forward embedded depth and enterprise in the industry of China's total factor productivity, there is a "U" shaped relationship, and an inverted ushaped relationship between the backward embedding depth of GVC and the productivity of enterprises.(2)The productivity effect of GVC forward embedding in China will be affected by the export scale of enterprises, and the productivity of exporting enterprises is more affected by GVC forward embedding than that of nonexporting enterprises.Chinese companies do face "low-end lock-in" from developed countries when Chinese industry is embedded in GVC by backward.(3)The influence of GVC forward embedding depth on enterprise productivity in medium-and low-tech industries is positive in a "U" shape, and the "low-end locking" restriction from developed countries has almost no effect on enterprises in medium-and low-tech industries.(4)The productivity effect of GVC bilateral embedding in the eastern region is stronger than that in the central region, while the productivity effect of GVC bilateral embedding in the western region is not significant.
