The ever-increasing competition among enterprises and the continuous reconstruction of the innovation pattern have made international R&D an important strategic and competitive means for companies.In order to make full use of their technological superiority and global knowledge resources,multinational corporations in developed countries have gradually established a global R&D system.At the same time,more and more multinational companies with emerging economies represented by China,India,and Singapore are beginning to take strategic considerations to acquire innovative resources globally,and have shifted their R&D activities upstream of the corporate value chain to overseas in order to continuously improve the intensity of international research and development.However,the enterprises of emerging economies obviously lack strategic assets and competitive advantages compared with developed countries.what are the motives for the emerging economies represented by China to place part of their R&D activities abroad and continuously increase their international R&D intensity? Does the R&D intensity of a company's are profoundly affected by endogenous resources or capabilities?The existing research on the motives and influencing factors of international R&D of companies,whether it be technology seeking,market exploration or knowledge absorption theory,has mostly been considered and studied by the host country factor's pulling on the enterprises.However,whether or not an internationalized R&D strategy can be achieved requires the support of a number of company-specific factors.On the other hand,the existing research on the relationship between corporate strategy orientation and international R&D tends to explore the performance of international R&D from the result end,and emphasizes The existing research emphasizes the disturbance and adjustment of the relationship between international R&D and innovation performance in the market orientation or technology orientation of the strategy.Therefore,in order to explore the endogenous elements that spur Chinese companies to increase their international R&D intensity,the company's strategic orientation is used as an antecedent variable,and the innovation ability endow as the intermediary variable and the international experience as the contingency factor.The relationship between the strategic orientation,innovation ability endowment and international R&D intensity of Chinese companies,and the regulative effect of international experience on the strategic orientation of companies and the intensity of international R&D are analyzed in depth.The listed companies with overseas R&D institutions in the Catalogue of Overseas Investment Enterprises of the Ministry of Commerce were used as samples to conduct empirical tests through Poisson regression,causal stepwise regression and Bootstrap analysis.The results show that the market orientation of China's corporate strategy has a significant inhibitory effect on the international R&D intensity,while the technology orientation has a significant incentive effect.We also found that innovation ability endowment has a significant stimulating effect on international R&D intensity,and has have no mediating role between market-oriented and international R&D intensity,while has played a partial intermediary role between the technology orientation and international R&D intensity.Furthermore,the international experience of enterprises has not played a role in regulating the relationship between market orientation and international R&D intensity,but it has played a positive role in regulating the relationship between technology orientation and international R&D intensity.Therefore,building an effective strategic orientation,strengthening innovation resources and capacity enhancement,and accumulating international experience are all important means for companies to promote their R&D internationalization strategies.
