Research On The Impact Of Farmer Professional Cooperatives On Farmers' Income Increase

As the main body of new agricultural management,farmer professional cooperatives have injected new vigor into the construction of agricultural modernization and brought new opportunities for farmers to increase their income.However,at present,the development level of farmer professional cooperatives in China is still low.Most cooperatives have such problems as imperfect governance structure,lack of effective governance mechanism,poor performance of cooperatives,and incomplete income increasing of farmers.Therefore,combining with the development stage of farmer professional cooperatives in China,studying the operation status of cooperatives and discussing how to standardize the internal governance of cooperatives to improve the effect of farmers' income increase have profound theoretical and practical significance for further enhancing the competitiveness of farmer professional cooperatives in the market economy and giving full play to the positive role of cooperatives in agricultural production and rural development.Based on a systematic review of relevant research results at home and abroad,this paper studies the impact of farmer professional cooperatives and their governance mechanism on farmers' income increase from both theoretical and empirical aspects.Firstly,From the logical mechanism level,this paper analyses the impact of cooperatives and their governance mechanism on farmers' income.Secondly,a brief overview of the development of farmer professional cooperatives,cooperative governance mechanism and farmers' income in Jiangsu Province is given.Thirdly,based on the micro-survey data of 76 farmer professional cooperatives and 674 farmer households in Nanjing,Suzhou and Lianyungang,Jiangsu Province,a multiple linear regression model is constructed to investigate the impact of farmer professional cooperatives and their governance mechanism on farmers' income increase.The main conclusions include:(1)Farmer professional cooperatives can promote farmers' income growth.Compared with the non-cooperative farmers,the effect of income increasing of the cooperative farmers is more significant.In addition,cooperatives have a greater effect on income promotion of high-income farmers.(2)Cooperatives with different governance mechanisms have different effects on farmers' income increase.Firstly,the impact of cooperatives with different Council characteristics on farmers' income increase is different.The larger the Council size,the more core members of the council,and the smaller the proportion of shareholdings of Council members,the better the effect of farmers' income increase.Second,cooperatives with different decision-making mechanisms have different effects on farmers' income increase.It is more conducive to promoting farmers' income by involving ordinary members in decision-making on major issues of cooperatives.Thirdly,cooperatives with different incentive mechanisms have different effects on farmers' income increase.Cooperatives with managerial remuneration and profit surplus distributed according to transaction volume(or volume)have greater effect on farmers' income.Fourthly,cooperatives with different supervisory mechanisms have different effects on farmers' income increase.The fewer supervisory opinions are put forward by the board of supervisors,the more detailed and complete the financial statements and meeting records are,the greater the promotion effect of cooperatives on farmers' income.(3)The control variables affect the increase of farmers' income.Such as the education level of household heads,the number of family population of farmers,the position of farmers in cooperatives,the equity rights of farmers,the ownership structure of cooperatives,the proportion of the risk fund and the demonstration level of cooperatives.In summary,this paper puts forward specific policy recommendations: from the perspective of the government,we should strengthen the government's support for cooperatives;from the perspective of cooperatives,we should optimize the size and structure of the council,standardize the decision-making mechanism of cooperatives,improve the incentive mechanism and strengthen the supervision mechanism;from the perspective of farmers,we should cultivate farmers' cooperative awareness.
