Research On Regional Economic Resilience Based On Innovation Network Perspective

Since the 1990 s,global economy has entered a period of deep adjustment with the accelerating processes of economic globalization,informatization,specialization and industrial division.Especially,after being affected by the financial crisis in 2008,governments and scholars around the world start to think about how to recover from the economic crisis and maintain economic growth.At present,China's economy is facing a complex environment,and the competition between regions is increasingly fierce.China put forward the reform of the supply side since 2015 and accelerated the adjustment of industrial structure,regional structure,investment structure and distribution structure,which brings new challenges to the regional development.Meanwhile,regional economy faces greater risks and uncertainties as the recent Sino-US trade dispute continues to escalate.In the face of external shocks,some regions are either less affected by short-term shocks or able to recover rapidly from the economic downturns caused by long-term shocks due to their capacity of adaptation and absorption,while others are not resilient enough to withstand shocks and therefore suffered in recession.As one of the core driving forces for economic growth,innovation plays an important role in promoting regional economic growth and enhancing regional economic recovery.Regional innovation ability contributes to the sustained and healthy growth of regional economy.As an efficient organizational form of regional innovation system,it is of great theoretical and practical significance to study the impact of regional innovation network on regional economic resilience.Using methods of innovation economics,regional economic theory and social network analysis,this paper focuses on the structural characteristics of regional innovation network and their impacts on economic resilience.Based on some relevant research and the actual situation in China,an index system of economic resilience is constructed,and the regional innovation network is built as well through the data of co-invention patents in our country,then an empirical analysis is carried out to show how innovation network affects regional resilience.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)The size of innovation network has a positive impact on economic resilience,a bigger size of innovation network means a higher level of economic resilience.(2)The average path length is negatively correlated with regional economic resilience,which means regions with shorter average path length of innovation network could have higher level of economic resilience.(3)The clustering coefficient of innovation network has a positive effect on economic resilience of eastern cities,but it's not significant for regions in central and Western China.(4)The influence of network density on economic resilience is uncertain,as the increase of density could help improve economic resilience,while an excessive density may have a negative effect.This paper contributes to the study of impacts of innovation network structure on regional economic resilience,it also has some implications for the construction and development of regional innovation networks and the enhancement of regional economic resilience.
